Arome showing snow getting into South Yorks between 7-8am and clearing the same area around Noon.

Hirlam has everything a couple of hours earlier.

WRF NMM 2k is a faster progression and turning from snow to rain in a shorter time.

Arpege similar to Arome in timing but snow not as heavy.

gfs showing some interesting charts from around 7th Jan some cold air to the east could be battle ground so we could all do well if comes off ?

I liked the 12z control run in FL as it shows sliders and runners all the way,get a southerly tracking jet like that and it's cold all the way:D

Just comparing current Radar image with Arome, Arpege, NMM and HIRLAM models, and HIRLAM looks closest in terms if position (Eastwards progression) for 11pm over Eire.

18oz run even worse for south Yorkshire. Any snow away from the moors and higher ground will be brief.  Places to be north Yorkshire northwards.

Yep, GFS 18z snow risk charts for South Yorkshire look dreadful.  Hopefully Arome is nearer to the mark!

GFS was most favorable and it didn't happen. Last two runs  haven't shown anything at all for south Yorkshire. Surface temps too high and a lack of cold uppers. I haven't even bothered looking at Johns Holmes excellent will it snow guide. Local forecast now agreeing and only showing sleet.

It maybe very windy tomorrow briefly. That maybe the only noteworthy event.

Places to be tomorrow north Yorkshire northwards.

weather warnings for snow for brough, beverley and hornsea in east Yorkshire, yet no snow warning for hull.strange.

The likes of Beverley is just inside the warning area. I don't think the weather will be much different from hull however.

Unfortunatly on this occasion I think the furthest eastern parts of Yorkshire like Hull  are going to see the least amount of snow.

Anything could happen as we see a forecast is never 100%.

Eh!!!,on what occation?

if you are talking about the last two events then yes it was favourable but it was wrong so why are you posting that it will be right this time,i beg to differ and not trust this model, not because it shows what we wan't to see ie:- cold and snowy but to look at it for trends  just like the other medium to long range models

so i would stick to short term models as these are higher res than the gfs etc

as for temps,we are at freezing or there abouts give or take so anything meeting these temps will produce snow at first them slightly milder air coming in from the west late morning but it isn't going to be tropical and as the day progresses the temps come down again once the warm sector passes by and winds turn back to a NW'ly producing wintry showers with snow at elevation.

this is not a dig at you PIT as you have been around the forum for some time and i have respect to all members on here:)

i hope that you have had a nice Chrismas and hope that you have a great new year

and hope that 2018 brings some interesting weather, snow in jan/feb and some good storms in summer.

Met show 3 hours of heavy snow, then an hour of light snow. Depending on how heavy it actually is, and how cold it is, disruption is certainly possible since it would coincide with rush hour.

The BBC one shows only an hour of heavy snow but light snow until 10am.

Guess now it's just a matter of looking outside and hoping what falls isn't rain..

Radar is showing snow, now that the front has reached eastern parts of Lancashire. Not sure what's falling from the sky though....

Bear in mind precip type is only based on what the models think it is. That part of the radar isn’t live data.

Well I’m up early lol
