Note it also forecasts it to turn to rain everywhere after 11am.

None washed away snow should come from the showers on Saturday, but that will only be a few inches at most.

We look to be smack bang in the sweet spot there... Looks good for a few hours of heavy snow before becoming less cold and the snow turning to rain.  Let's hope we get a few inches settling before it disappears again! ?

Looks like those trends have now developed today so Yorkshire is in the sweet spot smack bang in the middle

Wow it really shows how bad these last few winters have been when we are all getting giddy over a 4 hour slush event. Thankfully it won’t freeze though tomorrow night otherwise the roads could have been horrendous. Should at least see a few hours of snow before the milder air and rain moves in though.

GFS doesn't really back the idea of anything much for us tomorrow. A brief spell of snow on higher ground briefly turning heavier which may allow it briefly to turn to Snow low down before temps rise to turn back to rain by midday. That's really pushing it as the uppers aren't that great either. We had better the other day and we got rain and sleet after a brief spell of snow overnight.

To me the Arome has it spot on in my opinion.

well the met office rarely publish an amber warning if thy arent sure!! thy must be pretty  confident!!

That doesn't really apply for south Yorkshire. Further north north Yorkshire shouldn't do to badly out of this unless the low tracks further north and if that's the case all south Yorkshire will get is rain and brief transient snow to rain event further north. Hopefully it will dive further south as have other low's and this time Sheffield does get something.

I noticed this morning's ECM run gave our area some overnight snow tomorrow night into Saturday morning as well.  Not convinced it will settle though!  Lets hope we at least get a few hours settling snow tomorrow morning.  Still waiting for my first covering in three years!

phil avery just been on radio leeds n he sounded very excited about tmz. he was saying if you travel somewhere you may get stuck and that it may only be a few hours but it will smack it down!! starting to go all tingley.eek

People get stuck as soon as they see a flake of snow.

Was very surprised too see that neither Derbyshire or Sheffield council hadn't gritted the roads this morning which judging by the Tyre marks on the melting frost caused some drivers some issues earlier on this morning. So if the warnings are correct and they follow the same policy it will very interesting indeed.

I dunno about the whole of Yorkshire but I'm extremely optimistic for West Yorkshire. A similar snowfall was the 3rd December 2008. Forecast to turn back to rain, similar frontal scenario.

It was all snow even on the back edge, even the showers after the front were of snow.
