Certainly looking like a quicker transition to rain for West and South Yorkshire now isn't it!!

Let's hope it changes

As per the last two events, go with the mesoscale models over globals at this range.

GFS has been way off with both of the last snow episodes as both showed snow over and north of here despite other models having it all further south. The ECM model was good in terms of snow distribution but off with its prediction of ridiculous accumulations, although the event earlier in December probably did produce these totals across parts of the Midlands.

Im not feeling confident at all :( Especialy after being burned twice already recently. BBC graphics have now gone from nearly 6 hours of heavy snow to an hour of light stuff around 6am and then rain! Also 4c all day so nothing will be settling I dont think. Another bust :wallbash:

HA

Soon as i post my downgrade moan then we get that amber warning. Makes no sense with those BBC graphics though, I find a lot of the time the text doesnt match what its showing at all!

We shall see, all I can say its an early alarm call and im sacrificing a lay in on a leave day for this so it better be snowing at 6am when I open those curtains tomoz!!  :p

Hi Supacell.

Lurker here... happy for you guys to be in the frame this time.

Yep, in the first event we had an all snow (powder event) of just over 20cms. Met were 5 - 10 cms on low ground. We were probably more than predicted as we are not on high ground.

As regards the second event we got to about 5 cms quickly after 3hours of heavy rainfall. It then turned back to sleet here and gradually  started thawing. By morning we had about 3 cms left. The total rainfall I recorded was 16.8mms. So if it had all been snow it would have been about  the same snow depth.

Anyway good luck to you all tomorrow, I stil think it will move a bit further south (though not really enough to help me), which will make it better for you guys..
