Look North still good and they have lots more access to data at the meto than we can see so fingers crossed! The front is now coming onto the radar in the SW and it does strech way up to western Ireland so that should make it over to us.

Its just a case of open the curtains in the morning and cross your fingers!

Been snowing in the Hills of Sheffield for about 2 and a half hours proper snowline about 11pm was around Owler Bar.

Was sleeting all the way back to Dronfield and still sleeting now shame it aint 1c colder would have had a few cms by now.

What's happening Friday morning then?

BBC are saying 2-3 hours of snow, heaviest at 9am.

EDIT they've actually updated it from sleet.

No snow overnight as expected, another disaster - the 2nd within as many weeks!! Not a good year for us. Yorkshire used to be the sweet spot!

Just had a heavy snow shower pass through, watched the entire thing for 10 minutes lol because im that desperate (sad :P) could be the last snow i see this winter haha...

If this forecasted snow happens on Friday morning it will defiantly settle with those cold ground temps! Fingers crossed.

Met office have released a warning for Friday morning. 2-5cm above 100m

Barnsley towards the southern edge of the warning area!  For yesterdays 'event' we were on the northern edge!  The pessimist in me says Fridays event will go north of us in the same way the last 2 have gone south!

The chief forecaster assessment says that snow could fall to quite low levels east of the Pennines...

With any luck this system will move slight further south than currently forecast then we'll be on the northern side of the low for longer and may do better..

It's funny that you say that. Checked Mansfield forecast and it has more heavy snow than the centre of Yorkshire.

OK... ??. Looking at the GFS SLP and Meto forecasts for various Yorkshire locations, I reckons a shift of about 20 to 30 miles south and Barnsley would be in for a better chance of heavy snow.  Malton would still be good as well.  Do we have a deal? ???
