This is the latest in the yellow warning area as of 11:10am

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A spell of snow is expected over a central swathe of the UK on Sunday. This snow starts to develop during the early hours of Sunday with the heaviest and most persistent snow then likely during Sunday morning. Within the warning area, 1-5 cm of snow is possible quite widely with up to 10 cm in places. Over higher ground, 20 cm is possible in a few places. It is possible that within the far south of the warning area snow may turn to rain at times. Meanwhile, in the far north of the warning some areas may see relatively little, if any, snow. This warning has been updated to pull the northern limit southwards.

Yes, Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham still in the orange. Although it is really now down to radar watching. A reasonable covering for South Yorkshire, maybe a bit more than a dusting further north. For those that miss out, remember we are only on December 9th!

So it all looks abit of a damp squib to be honest. West Yorkshire now under yellow warning not really seeing why to be honest think that could be removed completely. Think with the amber over the south of the region they are hedging there bets incase it moves up slightly from the midlands. But looks like midlands will get absolutely hammered from this.

Can’t see it to be honest. The met office with mogreps and there other data will pretty much have this track nailed now.

im going with this now too tbh!

Everything still crossed.

But if not we are still in a much better position than last year and are still going to get snow, so nothing to really be downbeat about. Would have given my right arm for MetO updates like this last year.

MetO have been wrong on many occasions in the past though. Things can change at short notice, still every chance it could shift north as its not even here yet.

Another shift south on the EURO4.

As it stands.

West Yorkshire: Light patchy snow, covering at best, though very real chance of no falling snow at all

South Yorkshire: 2-3cm though fragmented.

Yeah think it’s all over bar the shouting really. Although not surprising. It was pretty much on the cards last night when everything was been moved south on the output.
