Friday:

A colder day with sunny spells after a widespread early frost. However, towards dusk and through the evening, a band of wintry showers spreading from the northwest. Maximum temperature 6 °C

First flakes of the season for our region tomorrow evening?  Certainly higher ground would have the best chance?  :)

things may change, but I still see no sign that east y orkshire will see any of the white in the next week or 2.its been a long time since we had a covering.north westerlies are poor for snow here.i still don't think it will be cold enough for low lying areas anyway.

Turned to heavy sleet here in Bingley but next band looks heavier.

If we get any showers tonight from nw should be sleet and snow.

Those showers over West Yorkshire are nice and heavy so bringing down the snow line nicely, snow to lower levels later in the night but the big question is can we get the showers?

Not expecting anything here east of the Pennines but would be nice if the Dales had a covering by morning.

Slight Dusting on the cars here. Certainly an interesting week coming up. Once you get the cold in place Surprises always happen.

Dusting on top this morning frozen slush on the car to get off before going up into peak district. A slight covering up there and light snow showers while I was there by the time i left the lying snow was thawing.

Hoping for at least a dusting this week with Wednesday and Thursday in particular looking most likely in this regard.

I would imagine the further East you are away from the immediate coast should do quite well looking at the forecast as it stands and if any troughs etc pop up the white stuff may just become that little bit more widespread!

North York Moors and Lincolnshire Wolds look the best places to be this week that is for sure.  Going to be a bitter week everywhere though and a world away from where we were this time last year!  :cold:

Fairly hopeful of some snow here come Thursday.

As you say though usual suspects look set for some good accumulations, North York Moors, Howardian Hills, Yorks/Lincs Wolds.

With uppers around the -7c mark that would suggest low level snowfall, especially overnight and during heavy showers, during the day though this may not be cold enough to support accumulations close to sea level.

Just had a short but heavy hail shower.  Brrr.
Wonder if I'll see any snow this week .. but I'm very near sea level.

Strong North-North Westerly wind, sharp showers with snow and soft hail mixed in 3C. Looking at charts we may see some snow this week.

Some sleet and hail showers early this morning on the Wolds ( currently 2.1 c with a dew point of 0.4 c ).

Bodes well for tonight and Thur morning when the cold uppers arrive and the wind turns North Easterly

Some wintry showers today but then dying back to the coast but the real fun and games look like kicking off tomorrow afternoon and evening.

Much colder uppers and a switch in the wind direction more to the NE should lead to an increase in convection even inland with some thundersnow looking like a risk near the coast!

The short term fax charts also show a trough along the east coast of Yorkshire / Lincolnshire tomorrow so that may pep up the showers even more!  Lets hope that is a precursor to the main event next week.  Fingers crossed!  :cold:

Yes, our forecast has snow/snow showers from tomorrow afternoon onward - and a risk of thunder! Should be interesting, and feeling bitterly cold.
