Got woken up at 03.49 by the wind - Aileen is here...

Moderate NW winds here now. Only gusting 30mph although I'm slightly sheltered by some trees from that direction, wind is very loud whistling across the rooftop.

Well this was certainly a snore and you missed it event. Duration of stormy weather 15 minutes at 03:55. No rainfall recorded at the time  so if it was a front passing through it was pretty well dead by then. So sad to say Aileen for me won't be considered a storm. 15 minutes doesn't make it I'm afraid.

Max gust of 34mph during last nights big storm, interesting that we had 35mph this afternoon during sunshine and showers.

Today was mostly dry untill around 2pm when we had 2 heavy hail showers, dropping around 7mm of precipitation in 20 mins.

Dunno why we've got a warning for windy weather where the max gusts shown in the gfs are in the mid forties.

We had a heck of a squall at 4.45am.
Sounded like a water hose on the windows and the

wind absolutely howling.  Very short lived though.
Can't spot any damage around me.  *phew.

Silly local forecast just now winds up to 60 mph today. The strongest gusts are over Norfolk and moving away. 52 mph this fits in pretty well with GFS forecast yesterday evening.

There were some squall lines around yesterday not here of course as it came over us it was fairly disorganized hence no strong winds and no heavy rain against the window. Was more active to the west and the 2nd squall to the north east was seemed to be the stronger of the two. That didn't come near us though.

Very gusty winds now in Leeds noticed Leeds Bradford Airport had a gust of 55mph. Some reports of trees down in and around Leeds.

Best time to hit I guess.

FINGERS crossed certainly looks an interesting winter coming up after the last few years of gloom.

GFS showing snow at ~100m asl Friday night.

Will wait for the NMM (other models had the front further south). Also worth saying the GFS has 2C so still a danger of cold rain.

Snow risk gone today. NMM tends  to generally inaccurate so I've stopped using it.

Well after these double figures temperatures drain away to the South tonight lets hope it is the last we see of them until Spring!

Certainly possible we won't see them again for at least a couple of weeks and who knows we may even get lucky with some of the white stuff!  :cold:

I'm feeling really blessed with the rainfall today. most all of it has kept to our north ( just over the Moor for most of it) so the river is high but not troublingly so. I worry about my brothers and sisters in the Lakes/N.Yorks though. Still a few hours of it to come for them.

Keep safe one and all!

Only 2mm here so far today east of the Pennies, as usual a different story further west with lots of rain!

Looking forward to the cooler air filtering in from the NW tomorrow, no sign of any snow in any of the models here but maybe some coverings for the hills at times.
