i agree Chris , the snow starved East Riding could get some snow tonight  ( Beverley and Hull deserve some luck ! )

It's a shame the back end seems to be more sleet/ rain.  Wintry showers following on for the coast. Metoffice seem to have removed the snow warning now for tomorrow. Still in place for Saturday.

Hirlam Model shows 1-2cm for lower levels in Yorks and Lincs. Looks like an area of snow could move SW from Scotland tonight and then some snow Friday morning. One to keep an eye on.

The Environment Agncy has issued 19 flood warnings for coastal areas and tidal rivers from N of Whitby to Humberston for tomorrow's high tide.  They're going up at a rate of about 4 an hour.

I wonder if we're in for any surprises on the border?

Anything that does come through will now settle ( and not just above 200m as is)

No surprises here heavy NO all day.

Tomorrow the main feature will be the wind and possibly flooding on the coast. Lucky ones on high ground should see a bit of white stuff the further east you go the better. Sheffield on the edge so snow is only likely on the highest ground due to warm sector.  Chances of Sheffield seeing any snow is pretty small lying snow away from the peak district I would think zero. At least we've had some windy stuff so something of interest this winter.

Surprising amount of snow making its way right through Cumbria and over the Pennines. Big pink blob now incoming for here and looking like more may follow in the next few hours. A nice surprise after a day of everything, heavy snow, wintry mix, rain and even hail at one point!

Yes a few showers making their way in! We shall see :)

Just hope i open the curtains to a white world tomorrow morning lol but who knows. Tonights feature will be a lucky hit or not I guess.

Down south right now is exactly what happened in Sheffield on Boxing Day 2014. What a fun evening that was :D

Look at gfs 850 chart there's a clear warm sector although looking at it under 850's for the uk it's not that bad

Not so sure it's the warm sector more the lack of anything falling from the sky that will be our problem here!

Can't see much from that overnight band this far West apart from the odd flurry to be honest?  We shall see but I am only down for a light snow shower around 6am according to the Meto site.....

The front due in the morning is quite a bit more towards the west than expected as it's moving through Scotland, will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few hours.
