Still very please to have the met and bbc Paul Hudson make a forecast stating the risk to lower levels at such an early spell and it's not even winter yet

Sleet here as well temps dropping slowly looking at the radar shows some heavier pulses developing so still a chance.

Althrough i'm not sure it will be on the scale of Boxing Day 2014 but we shall wait and see what tonight/tomorrow morning brings.

Guildford, had a good snow event in early 2009 but slim pickings down there, even December of that same year wasn't as epic as elsewhere. Still looking promising for later!

Welcome to Yorkshire Paul.. hopefully we will have plenty of snow events over the next few months to keep us all entertained..

I cant post radar/precipitation pics ,, but it sure has been pepping up over the past hour heading over the tops.

We've had moderate wet snow for a couple of hours now and it appears to be pepping up even more, it is very wet though but sticking to many surfaces except hard tarmac surfaces. I suspect many Pennine locations above 100m should see a cover of sorts, obviously more substantial the higher up you go and where precipitation is heaviest.

I presume the front is due to stop moving west to east soon and then start sliding north to south? Its got a wriggle on last hour or so and is now just about clear of the Irish sea. It if kept going east at that rate then no way would it last all night as the forecast is saying?

Snowline ( settling ) about 250-300M ATM

I suspect the snowline like for like if it was

December ~ 150-250

jan / Feb   ~ 100- 200

Anyway - I suspect anywhere over 200 should see some patchy cover tonight -

S

well thats me out :(

Not staying up tonight then. Good luck to all at proper elevation.

Ok,so lets have a look at the predictions come tomorrow morning/lunchtime based on the 18z gfs

looking at the 850 hpa dam,it looks rather marginal for low lying areas but with the winds coming in from the SE,then E by 7am we should start to see the elevation lower a bit

12-7UK.GIF

the total accumulations by lunchtime,17mm isn't much but that can change as we know

18-777UK.GIF

and i thought i would save this one until last,snow accumulation @ 13:00  hrs:D

18-780UK.GIF

GET YOURSELVES ON TOP OF THE PEAKS,i am in the morning,i am glad i booked this week off:D
