They hopped over to a new forum. Remember John Pike?... :hi:

I miss his daily updates and ramp of the day but just couldn't leave my beloved netweather . Hope his site is going well . From time to time a few pop in to say Hi and no doubt when we get our 6 feet of snow this winter a few will pop in again. I also remember he was very active (pardon the pun)and the main contributer to the volcanic thread which I also miss.

Down to -3C a falling through the floor. It has been a long time since we had a proper winter UK high with cold developing underneath. It is a shame that we will lose the sunny skies after tomorrow, though if we get a continental feed then we might break up the cloud again.

I dont care what the weather does just as long as it stays like the last two days of wall to wall sunshine, clear nights.

Down to -2.9c already so it's looking like last nights -3.5 will be beaten.  These last 2 days have already bettered last years coldest night..................that's how cr*p it was.

Who remembers about 6/7 years ago we had that inversion that produced industrial snow

daytime temps of -2 but nothing froze lol

I prefer to remember this from 6 years ago tomorrow.  That was a great event!

-10 uppers across the region, perhaps a repeat later in December is on the cards?

Approaching -5C already, this will probably be the coldest night since 2013, and it still isn't winter yet (just).

Yep, likewise here (although only -3.2c vs your -5).  Surely this bodes well for upcoming winter, feels like a late 70's winter to me.

Remember guys. If it's too cold for you in a coat, it's too cold for your pets to be outside for any prolonged period.

Unless you have a Husky, those things adore the cold!

Or a Rottweiler :) they have a double coat of fur which keeps them warm.

glorious sunny morning here in London. St James' Park is splendid in the frost covered leaves on the ground

Love the comment by Frosty over in the Mod thread just now about 'faux' v 'real' cold argument - "I imagine minus 9 celsius in parts of the south with severe frost and freezing fog this morning feels pretty real".  Yep!!

Down to -6.9C here and still -2C at 09.30. Heading for the second day in a row where the frost sticks on my back lawn all day. Love it! :cold-emoji:

Extra cosy wool dress did the trick this morning as well as long cosy coat, woolly hat (in new grey) , big scarf, skinny jeans, long boot socks, boots and gloves. Super toastie.  Too old too care if i looked like a frump, at least i was warm, as apposed to someone saying ' they were too cold too run'

Still very icy here and still in the minus figures.

very glad of cosy coat. Everyone needs one.

We had a proper frost for the first time since I moved to dover, all though as the air was dry, there was no frost on the ground. It's was on everything else. Well except some lucky cars that didn't get any dew on them to freeze.

Afternoon all,

The cold spell continues! I have frost on top of frost and tomorrow will have frost on top that too!  a very rare event indeed!

This morning was like a winter wonderland out here in the sticks! Looked almost like it had snowed!

And my back garden as off 2 minutes ago!

Been a long time I can see there is still frost after a clear sunny day like today!

Nice pics, Lukey. And judging by the fact that the forecast cloud has not even reached here yet (and given a little extra moisture) you might have a whopper of a hoarfrost tomorrow.:good:

Hard frost this morning, love seeing those frosty leaves! I can only recall a day or two last winter, which the frost lingered in the shade all day & it's not even winter yet, more of this please. :)
