Oh no :nonono: Hope you get the car up and running and it's nothing expensive.

Cars often find it harder to start when cold, older cars used to have a choke, I expect this is now done by computer instead. Problem could be with that sensor.

Few colder options starting to show for Mid-Month but as we know it's FI but if we can get that to 10days that would be very good signs, even the snow row is showing a little interest for London.

In my eyes it's not looking good for those wanting snow before christmas! Metoffice outlook does not even mention the chance of snow! Hoping things change soon think I'm getting impatient after the last very poor 3 winters!

Temp currently 5C starting to fall...I don't think we managed an air frost when I woke up it was +0.4C I blame that bloody UHI effect :p, definitely going to get one tonight.

Today's high was 5.5, now we are already down to 2.3, may be we will be colder tonight than last night and get a frost. We'll see, it was still 3.3 at midnight last night.

Edit: wowsers down to 1.7 now, temp dropping like a stone. Even on the coast.

No before Christmas is so rare, we've probably had more Snowy Easters than a White Christmas.

Encouraging chart even though not always the most fruitful

Temps tumbling fast, just hit 0.8.c, going to be colder than last night I feel. 0.7 now as I type, really falling fast.

Could easily hit -5 in Rural areas, I reckon they have underestimated the temps for here

Well after a sharp frost today has been sunny and completely calm. The temperature made it to 3C and the frost stuck all day in the shade, in fact I had to de-ice my car at 3pm which had been sheltered from the sun all day.

Widely down to -4/5C tonight, we could see something close to -10C somewhere in the south tonight I suspect.

Evening gang! I see the mad thread is busy...

Very different setup to last year.

Working outside today was beautiful got down to -5 out in the sticks where the shed is! Was out at 5:45 this morning gritting! Was so nice to breath in some cooler arctic air. Going to be a proper cold one tonight :) just goes to show if you get the high in the right place even the you have 5-10c uppers it can be really really chilly!

Although, the air is very very dry at the moment! Down to -1 here already, Frost has stayed in shaded spots all day here, that's a first for 2-3years....

I've put a whole leg of lamb out in the garden to see how quickly it freezes.:ninja:

That's if the foxes don't sniff if our first :)

Ha beat me to it with your comment about the foxes, very risky strategy! It's more boring but what about an ice cube tray with water in it?! :D

Lots of them around here, can't let them run off with it, cost me £10.50 lol

Ooh that's still a bargain though if it's a whole leg, got lots of lovely recipes for whole leg of lamb in a Diana Henry cook book!

weather : spectacular sunny day with a crisp cold feel, totally wasted by being at work, rather than having a long walk and pub lunch (anyone know of any jobs with that description?!). Temp down to 2.2 already.

Current temp here -1.8c could be on for -5 if this happens that then will be my coldest night since Jan 2013. Very surprised no one in this room, where are the good old days when we had at least 50+

Dropping past last night's minimum of -3.3*C already.

Impressed to see S. Farnborough reporting -5*C for 19:20, though Benson's last update half an hour earlier reported -4*C so it's probably very close behind or could even be slightly ahead.

A notable anomaly in my (somewhat broad) vicinity is Boscombe Down which is still at +2*C. Being up on a ridge of land (I've been to that area and seen for myself), higher values at this station relative to those around it looks to be a good marker of inversion conditions.
