Just been forced to go out and got caught in moderate drizzle. I'd forgotten how quickly one gets thoroughly soaked in mod. drizzle with a strong wind.

also just been out ,but not forced out ,mod drizzle here and windy ,cant wait for this arctic plunge ,hoping for some good features running across our area ,providing the welsh do not steal it all ,cheers .

Not a very inspiring weather warning for the vast majority of the south west :sorry:if snow is your drug of choice :D

Even though most of us aren't in the warning zone, I actually find that really encouraging. The fact that snow is now 'likely' in the far south west can only be a good thing. I was more worried that it would be marginal for temps but this is positive.

If there's one thing I've learnt on here.. it's never take the location of the ppn at face value. It will change .

They mentioned the snow word on BBC local weather at lunchtime. Right at the beginning. Also can be seen on BBC Weather...On the web.

Ha well as the met office start warning folk in my location the marginal chance of snow has been snatched away as of now to be replaced with cold rain (source met office BBC app) Just hope the same doesn't happen with the higher Moor. Funny how these snow and cold signals always get watered down!

Good squall line just went through here in Plymouth, teaching in the uni greenhouse became quite a challenge for a wee while! Cleared now very calm and dry out.

5 winters of model watching and it comes down to a 72 hour polar maritime spell with a chance of a flurry. :help:

I expect to come home to better than this..

Just shows those heady winter days of Feb 09 - Dec 10 were indeed rare and are getting further and further away from the present.....

Some high res modelling just coming into range now struggles to bring any notably colder upper level air far enough south to reach us.

Possibly restricting anything remotely wintry to the regions highest ground.

hi-res < 4KM only goes out to 48 hours though,so you're not going to get a great idea until late on Tuesday.

That's high high res to me.  Lol.

I mean some of the lesser known high res modelling such as the WRF NMM & Arpege models which go out to around T72 - T120, although yes, not strictly full high res modelling.

Quite a big upgrade on the latest UKMO which would bring snow to much of the SW. Isn't the UKMO more accurate in the short term?

Another example of how quickly things can change.
