Absolutely! I think for some it's only cold if there is snow too... Still see frost in the courtyard at work and suspect it will stay all day as the sun can't get to it.

Got down to -2.6c which is impressive for near the coast.

Currently 4.6c & frost still on cars that are parked in the shade.

There's no faux cold about this, coldest it's been for a good couple of years at least around here.

Any idea where that term stemmed from? I can only assume it relates to uppers vs. surface temperature, which as we know, is a load of rubbish.

Not sure where it comes from but I've seen it a lot on here and on TWO in the past. I know many peoples focus is just on snow, and the only result they are looking for is heavy snow, followed by ice days for weeks on end, but for many of us ALL the intricacies of the weather are fascinating (even, dare I say it, last winter, for its relentlessness...) I revel in days like today - just wish I wasn't at work for it!

I think it is referred to as faux cold because uppers are too warm for snow.

Most things on website are snow related..

What a beautiful day. I love snow just as much as anyone but crisp, sunny mornings are the next best thing.

Although I have to admit.. I will be gutted if we don't see snow falling at some point this winter. I honestly can't remember the last time it snowed here. :cc_confused: Anybody from Bristol know?

Still plenty of frost in the shade, that did not happen at all last winter (Andy reminds himself it is still autumn!). So a double frost on some ground tomorrow morning and if we can keep it clear into tomorrow night there will be a triple frost by Thursday = yay!!

Beautiful sunny crisp day, but temperature never got above freezing in my garden.(Not especially sheltered....thermometer showing -2.1 C atm and chicken's water is frozen solid!). Yet the official figure(4 miles yp the road) shows a high of 5C today. Shows what a difference a few miles can make

Another lovely sunny and cold day with a high of 6.6°C. Thought it wasn't going to get low enough for a frost here last night but we managed to get down to -0.5°C.

Currently 3.7°C and dropping quickly so looks likely we'll see a lower temperature tonight.

I saw a dusting on top of Tog hill about 10 days ago whilst driving to Belgium where I did see falling snow for all of 20 minutes.

Still above freezing at 2. Wind has dropped out so hoping we get over the line tonight. Lovely day though not that I saw it. First brought home bug from the nursery means we're all floored.

Yes. It's generally a degree or so colder there than here, though. I went out and gave my sensor a shake in case it was stuck and giving a spurious result! Down to -3.4C now

Where is your location Knocker? It's  not in your Avatar/profile bit. 8C seems balmy! Frost was prevalent out of the sun all day here.
