glad to see you guys up north are getting some snowy action - gfs 6z still manouvering the cold uppers bringing them further south for tonight/tomorrows front to bump into - wonder if it'll drag it any further south on the 12z - means more of us might see some snow before this cold spell ends

Interestingly it wasn’t forecast, but little snow signs now on meto. If this were to continue at this pace then we will have a couple of inches, but judging by net weather radar, should stop in an hour or so.  Meto  have a yellow warning out for tomorrow and sleety rain, but nothing for today.  Strange.

By my reckoning that’s 6 hours of snow, some light, some heavy, but about a couple of centimetres here, so more higher up.  Just seen some little ones pass with their sledges, think it will be a bit wet for that.  Still snowing but very lightly.

Not to hijack this threa on the current weather conditions, but does anyone know what the snowiest settlement in Wales is (by days of snow lying)? Been searching on this forever and haven't managed to find anything.

would imagine a high village/town up in the Snowdonia Park - but that'll be just a guess

Light drizzle now.   Just looking through photos and we have had more days of snowfall/lying snow this December/jan than any since 2010

Flash snow warning out for SE Wales valid until midday (issued at 8:18 am). Nothing here though in Tredegar, just rain despite radar snowing snow. Cold at 2c. Nothing on the cameras at Storey Arms either.  Regarding snow cover in Wales.... not a clue (would suspect somewhere North) but Tredegar holds the record for urban snow (1963) according to Philip Eden - over 5.5 ft!

Just driven back from London via the M4 - worst journey I ever made!  Snow on the M25 and M4, then after the A34 it turned to heavy rain - and I mean heavy.  Drove in heavy rain through Newport and Cardiff and then discovered the M4 is closed at Bridgend!  Massive diversion, then finally back on the M4 but another accident we just missed at the next junction will be causing chaos by now.  Almost couldn't see the road ahead through Port Talbot and then finally just began easing at Carmarthen.  The lanes around here are running with torrents of water and the streams are all at capacity.  Never seen it this wet.  Anyone got any figures for the rainfall amounts over the last 12 hours for South Wales?  There has got to have been some flooding today.

Lanes and even A roads through farmland aren’t great as the water runs off. There’ll be lots of localised flooding across the rainy part of South Wales today. I’m near the airport and took my landrover to Barry earlier - far less capable vehicles were being driven at speeds near to 40mph through standing water by the unaware and the stupid. We’ve had a lot of this away from the snowy parts (we just had that one afternoon of rain to snow before Christmas) although winter seems to have been snowy for many at elevation.

Much better here this morning - light breeze only, partly clear partly cloudy skies, dry at last!  Maybe get some work done outside today!
