Coming down pretty hard and starting to settle here now. Absolutely lovely to see and in addition, the BBC hour-by-hour forecast now has us down for heavy snow throughout the night!

Commiserations to those seeing rain: fear not, it'll turn to snow for most of you as tomorrow comes.

The heavy precipitation is about to move in.

Oh wow, there's an awful lot of very heavy precipitation in this system which hasn't yet reached us and it's already a whiteout here with snow settling on top of slush on main roads, despite the ground being initially soaking wet, meaning that it's going to be treacherous come morning. When that heavy stuff does arrive it should aid evaporative cooling both here and for those who currently have rain, hopefully swinging this event further away from marginality (we had a short period not long ago when the snow turned to icy rain.)

Looks like the GFS with its northern snowline has been proven wrong, and ECM and ARPEGE proven right!

Still snowing heavily here roads are white again.bbc has sleet then light snow for the rest of the day. Up until recently they had today marked down as heavy rain but it's been snowing continuously for the last 2 hours so who knows

BBC probably not updated Steve. Twitter now saying there is a 50 mile southerly shift in predictions  - good job it' a Sunday and not as many people got to wake up for work. I got to walk and get my missus from Blackwood later!

For those of us who have snow, I think the chance of it turning back to rain has now passed. :)

I agree - it' suppose to get colder from now onwards today so snow line will drop down also.

Going on some of other threads they are obviously disappointed.  This snow has had a dramatic southward change and snow line should reduce through day.
