Looks North Wales could have a white xmas with possible showers overnight.Xmas eve to xmas morning Rain moves south 27/28 gradually turning to snow as colder air digs in from the north,29/30/31/snow at times.Devil in the detail, but UK has a Lp that sits over the north sea with little troughs forming running north to south with prolonged outbreaks of snow inthe UK.Met are saying disruptive snow in the UK next week! This chart that we may never see again snow such a rare event.

I take snow depth charts with a pinch of salt, but does show the higher risk areas. So this chart shows a Northerly flow. Screenshot_20201223-083607_Chrome.thumb.jpg.0f1861389714e42864c042e1decc389c.jpg

No problem seeing snow before the year out .Question is how much this set up is rare ,a unstable cold air flow. With bands of snow. You correct to be pessimistic, so many letdowns. But this looks a once in a life time set up.

Yes it looks promising and as we draw nearer the time notice how the 850 temps are coming down. Somewhere in wales will get pasted I’d punt at somewhere like Merthyr could get buried in snow ❄️

Relentless rain today....be glad of a few days dry and bright weather before things possibly get interesting.

I say possibly because we all know how quick it can change

I'd say any snow currently is going to be M4 North in Wales next week, going by what I've seen in the mod thread, valleys could do well, will have to see. I don't think there will be much if anything for low lying/costal areas along the south atm. I do struggle to read the mod thread though and have very basic understanding so feel free to ignore me

euro 4 going for a potential white xmas over London - we shall see - can be a bit over optimistic - while Wales gets some clear and frosty weather for a change after all this rain we've had

Well just took a drive to cardiff for my one month check up after my lasik eye surgery, Barry is almost inaccessible with the flooding, culvahouse cross flooded with cars floating about according to the radio and similar in dinas, had to go to bridgend and uo a48 to get back into Barry. Never driven through so much flooding before!

With regards to the cold, hope any battle ground snow we do get we can all join in on and not just inland/higher ground

It’s pishing  down here in Glyn Ceiriog after a very wet day.  Winds have picked up too.  On my 7am drive out of the valley over tops, incredibly foggy and little bits of sleetyness.  As per usual, logs stacked, car food stacked, wine stacked, Christmas lunch stuff in fridge, let it snow, cos we ain’t got anywhere to go have we?
