snows increasing here - might even achieve a dusting - on this occasion jay - front is weak that's crossing over us and running into high pressure, the easterly feed was also weak, but still cold, still a few weeks yet to go for more events to occur. we also have the dastardly welsh mountains which the midlanders often complain about, which suck the showers/fronts dry

Glad everyone has enjoyed the snow. Had a feeling the SE of Wales wouldn't see anything, fingers crossed we can pick up some showers tonight.

It really makes you think what we need to do to get a decent snow event, they say get the cold in and the snow will follow but this 'cold spell' isn't really cold that all. Not even a frost last night.

The reason there was no frost last night was not temp based, air was too dry (easterly feed) so you don’t get the visible frost like normal. However this cold spell has turned into a non event again to be honest here if it’s snow you’ve been after.

Still plenty of time, think of Feb 1978. That was like Feb 18th!

Snowing heavily here.  It has snowed light heavy since 8:30 with a light dusting.   NOw wacking it down but looking at radar. Passing over quite quickly.  Settling but not on gritted roads.

I was up Thornhill Crem from 11.30-1 and the whole time I was there it was snowing. Teeny tiny flakes, but they were definitely falling.

A few more flakes here, but nowhere near enough to give us a coating. Bitterly cold though. Brrrr.

Somewhat deflated after the snow this morning - it looked promising but didn't stick, and it is just somehow magical when it comes.  I have had everything crossed all day hoping for more!!  Here's hoping for another blast soon.

don't think you'll have to wait long - Friday and this sunday are looking very wintry - plus out in the far reaches of FI, the golden easterly is slowly making an appearance which could herald huge amounts of snow - we shall see - all to come - wintry weather to accompany the winter Olympics which starts friday

Saw a video from Shell Island earlier and it looked covered in snow which I presume is a rarity due to its location.

Today was probably the worst attempt at snow I've ever seen from mother nature. Temperatures were good and dew points! 3 hours of constant snow...it just did not settle! Only in grassy spots

Heavy settling snow in Tenby just cleared through! Awesome and a bit more upwind, too!

Pembrokeshire Dangler (a variety of) in full effect!!

Been a great day of weather in S.Pembs, all told: we've had it all!!

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
