Been a proper clear crisp winters morning, low of -1c, frosty and sunny with a thaw as temps rise. Still quietly optimistic for some decent snow tomorrow, especially as it'll be my first snow of the winter! Is it bad that I'm slightly excited, even though I know it could still go wrong for here?

This morning on metoffice I was down for heavy snow in Magor from 5pm tommorow and through night. Now it is just sleet and rain, apart from 1 HR at 8pm

They've done similar with me, 4hrs of rain and sleet before the heavy snow starts according to them, but hopefully will be different come tomorrow, their symbols aren't very reliable! lets see what the models today bring

Do I detect a few 'going the way of the pear' evolutions this morning? Not had chance to delve into the mad thread to pick up any pieces, just from what I see on here.

Someone alleviate the concerns!

Always doubt even though weather warnings will go today, personally not worried ,me i expect weather warnings to go amber tommorow, what's going to be fascinating is watching how the front grows and how intense it wil be.

Hopefully the strong easterly wind doesn’t prevent Swansea getting in on the act like last time.

Different setup this time. Last time it was ene winds with bands of precip coming from the east. This time ese winds with a system moving up from the SW. I think West facing and South facing hills will be hit hardest....

And to answer some concerns    Yes it is still on!   06z Gfsp is a stonking run for mid and south wales...... north wales still sees snow just less intense

Icon 06z also a great run for us tomorrow keeping things further south which means less marginal at the coast.

Gfs 06z slightly further north Cardif still all snow... It then goes on to build a scandi high by Tuesday putting us in an easterly flow

Hirlam 06z good run 12+ hours of snow

Arpege 06z good run 11+ hours of snow more marginal for Pembrokeshire Carmarthenshire on the coast but is out weighed by the rest of the suites

Will definitely be Amber warnings out for south wales based on that lot

Derek going for rain/sleet for South Western coast and sleet/risk of snow for south east coast. I'll be devastated if we miss out on this one.

Met Office are showing Light Snow from Mid day - Heavy snow from 3pm through to Mid night then light snow thereafter - temperature never gets above 1C for the whole period

Best chance yet for the Valleys South of the Heads of the Valleys I would think

It's game on here now! So if it doesn't reach this far north tomorrow at least we've had some. Good luck for others further South.

Hirlam - Liverpool

Gfs - Liverpool

Gfsp - Chester

Also to add possibly coldest night this winter tonight so ground will be hard cold which is what we want

Not expecting as much snow here now it seems to be shifting slightly further south each day,

Bitter east wind tomorrow and light snow later drifting.
