Just watched the weather for the week ahead not going to be very cold but could get some wintry showers.

We do not want wintry showers we want blizzards and loads of snow .

Even the banter thread are going into a hype always go's further ahead , we want it in the reliable frame Fr@#120 hours ahead .

Roll on Spring I say as this winter is stuck in a rut .

Hope I'm am wrong though -But a big but I Ain't .

Wow, complete utter mega tantrum in banter thread.  Off to work at a mild 9 degrees after two days of snow, will check in tonight to see if all of them are either on the naughty step, or have had calpol, calmed down and stopped grizzling.

a lot of what is showing is knife edge scenarios - reason why mod thread is up in arms - knife edge doesn't really do it for those in the south east and down south generally - but we in Wales stand a better chance with knife edge stuff - especially when it's coming in from the north west/west - so model thread is a tad skewed - knife edge can be good as the boundary layer between cold and not so cold 528 dam is often with the lows in the right place, the place to be to get a lot of snow

sunday afternoon and onwards through next week looking good for snow - details closer to the time

A group of Waxwings have been spotted in Crickhowell. Loads of Twitchers about. A sign of cold weather to come....?

agreeing with the gfsp - last run - tonight's run will be interesting - here's some more evidence we'll be ok next week - meto beacons mountain forecast is as follows for Tuesday for eg

Tuesday 29 January 2019

Sunrise: 07:59

Sunset: 16:56

Moon phase: Third quarter

Occasional snow showers, and sunny spells. Showers could merge into more persistent snow at times, and could be slow moving due to largely light winds. Freezing level at valley floors.

largely light winds means a flabby slow moving low which will hold the cold and as it states freezing level to floor - 528 dam at all levels - so accumulations very possible in fact more like probable more widespread next week - expect inches and it to hang around for a good few days with further snow to add to it

Oh that sounds awesome ?? if the roads aren't too bad we may do that 44 miles drive to the "winter wonderland", if they are then we won't risk it

That's the Mad thread for you 'mostly full of English who want snow in there own area and if it is showing in other parts on the country and not there specific area then it's throw dolls out of the pram time .

Also I think to myself sometimes can they really read what the charts are saying . They go hours upon hours ahead when there could be all kinds of wobbles . Stick to what meto are suggesting sod all that wisimby rubbish ☺

Wednesday

low pressure anomaly slower to form on this run but more snow depending on exact track

Thursday night/Friday morning

image.thumb.png.27c5da2ef3bf73e414cea29e07fb59f2.png

cold on this run holds for at least a full week so any snow on the ground should keep nice and frozen

any further is too far ahead to see any possible "breakdown" for now

Well here's hoping we get in on some White Action right down to the coast. Snow line will change up an down with each model run.

Good Luck everyone!!!!

gfsp extends the cold to over a week and beyond and delivers copious amounts of snow all over Wales

20 - 25cm widely

Yes gfsp 18z possibly the best run of the winter so far for us in Wales. And the cold arrives in 36 hours....

Feet firmly on the ground though. lets look for support to build from other models on the 0z runs with regards to duration of cold.

Long range models are all going for cold February so i am expecting(hoping) to see a shift soon towards this sort of outcome...

@andymusic please don't post this in the mad head English only thread as they will pull there teeth out and go on the plonk all night .

I would love to see a UK All over snow though 'just some in there wants it in my back garden event .

I myself think that the last week in march is going to go stonking with cold .

Also Tuesday is looking fine not 100% there but still game on and marginal .
