Seems like winter is a no go according by the ups and downs in the banter model discussion.

Roll on a spring like thread then . Tut tut tut .

Where do you keep getting this from? Those in the MOD threads are a capricious bunch: it's obvious to anyone that even in the mildest of winters (which this isn't, despite it having been benign so far), the season isn't over on Jan. 24th.

Anyway, a decent GFS run for us this morning. I won't post the whole set of charts, just the snow accumulation map. This is exactly one week away so it's prone to change, but it's surely comforting to know that most of the next week will almost certainly have below average temperatures with plenty of moisture around thanks to the presence of low pressure.

yes - most models firming up on the general theme possibly from sunday onwards - slight delay as it was gonna be Saturday - of cold to very cold 850s and also the odd marginal incursions of low pressure into Wales - dumping loads of snow - details to be ironed out - but we could be looking at lots of the stuff - the caveat being as before no looking more than about 4 days out unfortunately as updates are changing fast!

February and march should be our coldest and best ops for snow - it's coming - not long to wait now

Fantastic outputs continually again and again possible snow from the cold front moving south,Sunday night  could give a couple of cms, bitter northerly bitterly cold wind with moisture picking up from the Irish sea streamers developing Monday Tuesday in a unstable air flow More organized band of snow moving across Wales Wednesday,Daytime temperature around 2c in the south.

yep - that battleground low moving through on Wednesday giving 12 hours of heavy snow as it moves through - but we won't know it's actual trajectory until closer to the day

What a mess the charts are , i dont believe anything past 72 hours tonight . I'll start to believe some of these charts come saturday evening until then it's just a total guess what will happen.
