Less than one hour ... still falling and covered at least 3 inches

Looks like the place was built to cope, with that staircase to the upper storey.  Hope you and the animals are safe.

Pics from the road heading out of Cwmbran towards Caerleon. An exposed spot which catches the wind. Drifts as high as a Landrover.

Hammering it down in Tenby, again... Proper big, old-fashioned flakes, too!

Just seen the wren outside, so dug around the cupboards and found some sultanas and linseed.  Hope she, and the others are brave enough to come back before the bits are all buried....

Nice one, I've been feeding the wild birds too. A shallow bowl of water is also useful (although you'll need to remove the ice from time to time).

Bring on the rain .

It’s time to wash away this pathetic attempt at snow cover .

Its not the despair , I can take the despair , it’s the hope that kills you.

Officially given up now .

Enough is enough .

No final request , just put the blindfold on and kick the stool away please .

Temp keeps fluctuating between -0.5C and +0.5C so away from lying snow it has remained mostly wet. Light snow just starting again now, hopefully the temp will drop now thisevening/overnight for any snow we do get before the milder temps tomorrow/Sunday!

I suppose this isn't exactly what you want to hear, but I'll also be welcoming some milder after discovering how much energy it takes to walk through deep drifts!

Not sure but I suspect the Irish sea is just reinvigorating the front. Looks pretty intense. Probably contributing to Irelands red warning.

Could well be. Green echoes on the radar over us, but not a single flake!

But you didn't *know* it was coming a whole week ago. None of us did. We knew there was a good chance but a good chance alone is not enough to issue severe warnings one week in advance, given that the blizzard was far from a certainty at that stage. And besides, once it became much more certain that Emma was going to impact us (around the 26th, I think), countless warnings and endless TV and radio coverage was given to the impending snow and two-three days is plenty of time to prepare and decide not to venture out, I think. I guarantee, if you were BBC Wales's weather presenter and you told people a whole week ago that a killer snowstorm was coming only for the forecast to change at the last minute (which it sometimes does and, not to get personal, but how many times have you (and the rest of us!) got excited over low-res chart output showing major snow events which don't materialise?), you'd be in a lot of trouble.:nea:

I knew 2 weeks ago....from Gavidsvids you tube....there was a stratosphere Warming and it had good indication for much colder weather coming .....he said we have to keep an eye on this ..and he did.......

I know the possibility of SSW was mentioned weeks ago but Storm Emma didn't exist at that point, which is what Andy is angry about. My point still stands: you can't issue severe warnings of specific and imminent weather events weeks in advance.

"Only" a woman? I didn't mean to sound condescending. Sorry.

We all love weather and we sometimes get a bit too passionate, I suppose.

No I don’t begrudge anyone at all and some great pictures !

The Irish ones also truly are worthy of being called epic .

This has been a harsh lesson learned .

Disregard the models and pay the price.

I mocked the persistently modelled dry patch ,but it just cracked a huge dinosaur egg and dribbled it all over my humble pie stuffed face .

I have never been so badly wrong and must face the consequences .

The worst one being I didn’t get to build a proper snowman with my daughter .

Another being I genuinely don’t know how to eat a bobble hat .

It's strange. Many people might say "it's only weather" but I feel like us on Netweather have real emotional attachment to snow in particular. Wanting to enjoy it with family, memories, even just the way it transforms our world for a few days. I know that when I'm old, my main memories of snow will be of enjoying it as a little boy with my parents. I feel for you not being able to enjoy it with your daughter this time around.

There's some renewed moisture pushing up from Normandy and I can't work out just yet what track it'll take, but I suspect it'll end up over Wales.

No way you can sell/give it to anyone locally?....or are you as unable to get out as the milk lorry to get in? Doesn't help the bank balance, but less of a waste.:aggressive:

Alternatively, put it outside and make milk ice lollies  Sorry, I know it's not a laughing situation.
