Still small flakes but just been out and some spots are very patchy whilst other spots the snow is up to the kerb

here's 3 images of Bridgend Road (one of our two main roads) in Maesteg just now. the one with the van in was wild. scary even. wind whipped up and it was an almighty maelstrom of snow all around me. WILD!

The snow is a little heavier towards the mumbles side of the city, hence why here on the student village there is actually some minor depth starting to form.

Snowing steadily now and flakes are slightly bigger plus wind is also blowing the flakes around and its starting to stick down.  If this keeps up there will be a decent covering by morning.  Ice will be a nightmare though :-/

Some seriously large depths beginning to build up here, both drifting and level, and the amazing thing is that the heavy precipitation, according to the Netweather radar and forecast for my area, won't arrive until midnight or so. This will rival '82 if it intensifies and rages through the night.

Just spectacular what I'm witnessing tonight.

@Baldy Snowman I think its because the snow is so fine its more like crystals than actual flakes so there's not much there for it to accumulate. We just don't seem to be in a great location atm. Hopefully picks up over the next few hours otherwise we won't even have a full cm by morning :nonono:

Yes the cold front should produce a few hrs of heavy snow.

Is the snow turning quickly to sleet (as shown in green) in southern England already or is the radar wrong again? It's been wrong with the rain (blue) showing in the Bristol Channel and even the river Severn as its all been snow.

Well it looks different on Netweather, all snow.

I'm not sure if it is snow or like freezing rain here! Its so fine its like a drizzle rather than snow and seems to be more like ice than snow on the car!

@Marcus_surfer could be, have ice forming round the windows, I thought I would have been safe here to have it as all snow but for some reason I guess not, there is just a bubble of it around my area :sorry:

Thats what it is , even up here its like that because of how cold the temperature is.  Catch a snowflake and have a look how beautiful it looks.

i'm sure the mountain is pepping up Maesteg's snow. looking at the v7 radar just now, it was light pink, and now, just north of tondu :D all the way to me, it is dark pink.

sorry DS!

If this snow keeps up it's going to be crazy in the morning. At the moment dropping 3cm an hour increasing to 6 soon.

Mine's gained at least an inch in the last hour...now up to the cats' bellies (only one brave enough this time I opened the door!)  All previous paw print evidence obliterated.
