You have to laugh.

I have to say the new BBC graphics are seriously misleading. Countyfile last night had snow across most of Wales for Tuesday morning but Schafernaker said possible hill snow.

Ye graphics said snow but the forecasters themselves actually talked it down to hill snow only. Graphics maybe tending to overdo snow on the new ones. Euro4 run this morning didn’t have anything tomorrow.

If you look at the weather type graphic underneath the warning. It shows sleet with temperature of 2 degrees at 0800 then snow until 1300 with temps of 2 falling to 1 degree. Confusing for a bear of little brain like me! :cc_confused:

How do you find the weather type graphic EA? Sorry can’t find it anyway. Sounds interesting, Ian F did say about potential from small lows but marginal

On the MetO website regional forecast for my location if you click on the weather warning it will open under the main line. I would not get too excited I suspect it has not been updated as it contradicts everything else which has been shown

Ive seen more warnings from the met office in the past week than i think all of 2017 ridiculous. Scotland looks nasty and needs an amber i would suggest though

Ye I know m8 and for wind but u tell me how these windspeeds on the coast warrant a weather warning?? We have these speeds in summer and no weather warnings r in place. Look how much rain is forecast for my area as well and again doesn't warrant a warning. Like I said a few pages ago the meto seem to like the limelight a lot lately

No fair enough. Those wind speeds there in that forecast do not warrant a warning. I think it’s because of the potential for some small low pressures to form in the flow which would increase precip and wind speed. The warning text 60mph quite widely so they must see a little more than the computer generated forecast says. It is only a “be aware” at the end of the day. Could be a lot of rain in small time scale.

Lets see anyway.

Personal prediction is that anywhere roughly above 500m it will be an all snow event. Most areas with exception of the highest of ground will have rain at some point i think though if the Euro4 is correct with keeping a small 850hPa warm core (no more than an hour). I believe some wet snow/sleet is possible almost anywhere as the cold 850hPa undercut on the backedge. Snow fall predictions; No snow along southern coastal areas, at least settling. Slushy accumulations (1 - 3cm) for the valleys north with possibly 5 - 10cm on the highest ground.
