Sleet in north Pembs now with Snow falling on the Preseli’s. If the heavy precip stays around for a while I think we’ll see some falling snow at least here

Time to crank up the reverse psychology. A transient affair for the valleys- a pasting for the heads of the valleys and Beacons. For those like me lower down- a very wet one! Warm snow if you will.

Nadolig Llawen all! :)

The front doesn't look as intense now and is fragmenting - this is going to be a dud this time.

ain't finished with you yet lol - low centre is running west to east underneath wales - so will drag the cold air back into the mix as it progresses - reason why we are having reports of snow in pembs - the cold air has already got into the mix there with the north to south progression of the cold around the low - the flow of the front will wrap around the low and should come back and revisit south wales before it finally leaves altogether between around 3am to 6am

White now behind my house, I would say from 400m up. Nothing settling at 300m but wet snow.

But looking at radar this area seems to clear for at least upto 11 pm other than a little bit of rain/sleet/ snow.

low is on track - midlands is slightly further north so the colder air had a chance to get in quicker - don't worry ours is coming - low will tuck the cold air in towards us shortly - have patience

Turing to snow here now at 300m still bit wet to stick but very good torch up mountain and it's white now not far from back of my house. I would imagine beacons are looking very good

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A weather system moving east across southern England is likely to bring a mix of heavy rain and snow. 15-25 mm of rain is likely quite widely within the warning area with some places receiving 30-40 mm. As the rain becomes increasingly heavy, it is likely to turn to snow in places, initially over parts of Wales and perhaps the Peak District then over central England in the early hours of Wednesday. Snow may fall to increasingly low levels, giving a cm or two in places. with 2-5 cm accumulating locally above 100 m, and perhaps 10 cm in a few places. These larger amounts are more likely over Wales whilst East Anglia and Lincolnshire see little or no snow. There is low confidence in the balance between rain and snow with marked variations likely from place to place in the amounts of any snow

ok - knew that wouldn't take long - full on snow now and really coming down - cracking stuff - cold air should keep coming south in the low
