I know this front is supposed to pivot - but if you check the radar the intensity has gone and seems to be fragmenting?

Doesn't look on the face of it much life in this after mid morning. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Essentially that is what is forecast, probably like another 4 - 5 hours of decreasing intensity (Probably add about 2- 3 cm). Especially where snow has already settled.

Epic scenes in Rhayader, Powys this morning! We already had 2 - 3" on the ground from yesterday, but the overnight snowfall has dwarfed that, easily doubled or triple that amount now and still coming down very strongly with loads more forecast. Easily the biggest snowfall event since 2010.

09:45: 26cm measured on top of car (10" in old money!)

Had some huge flakes here for a while, but it's turned back to rain. Hopefully it will soon turn back to snow and give us a proper covering.

A lot of heavy rain overnight and when I checked 7.30m, it was very wet outside.

However it turned to snow, and now a decent covering on grass, roof, trees, cars etc..

With the wet overnight though paths have a patchy covering and in places the snow on grass is thawing from underneath especially close to the house.

Still the best snow since 2013.

Almost there!! Rapid temperature drop in the last hour:

Swansea 7C to 1C

Porthcawl 9C to 3C

Cardiff 6C to 2C

Quite incredible temp drop. When you think the initial cold front on Thursday dropped the temp about the same in 12 hours!

My weather station near Porthcawl showed

7am 3C

8.20am 9C together with a wind gust of 54mph!

9am 8C

10am 3C

currently 1.6C

definitely the briefest mild & windy spell we've had for such a long time here!
