I'm in a dry patch at the moment but its allowed the temp to drop to 2.1c, looking at the radar hopefully some more showers that will head for Tondu/Bridgend way over the coming couple of hours.

Decent streamer action incoming for the valleys folks!

Reckon the low on Sunday is going to pivot late afternoon and drop back upon South Wales dragging some colder air with it. Before that - cold rain South Wales, Snow to the North.  The Met Office Fax chart looked good for this too. Hoping that the high res models will show this in the next couple of runs when they get in range!

I'm wondering if there is some kind of convergence zone here stretching from Mid Wales to the Valley area.

The wind must be in the perfect position for such alignment. They are putting down a fair amount of snow and seem to be fizzling around the M4 between Newport and Cardiff some 15-20 miles from me.

Just as I saw on the radar, the shower is now here and its snowing again! My car is all nice and white :)

Has the wind direction changed or something? Don't seem to be getting anywhere near as many showers at all over in the North East they just aren't forming in the Irish Sea.

Confidence regarding Sunday is interesting. Netweather models position the event south. A small 20 mile shift could be all it takes

That is as per the forecast - bit of a quiet spell for a few hours.

How far south, Sam? Unless I'm mistaken, the radar forecast is premium content only (which I don't have), but the temperature profiles look broadly favourable on NW's 12Z away from the south coast of Wales, with some big contrasts: 7°C in Barry and 1°C in Merthyr, for example.

Alright everyone..moved to North Wales in the spring from Manchester.  Used to post as Bartlet Low for years on the forum but somehow got locked out of the account couple years back. Anyway, first winter in Wales. Actually a lie as I used to live in Chepstow as a kid. Remember the huge drifts in '81. Just coming to terms with not having a clue about local weather / favourable wind directions etc .Had it nailed in Manchester. We've had a steady stream of heavy, squally showers today of hail, sleet and snow. Temporary minor accumulations only. Seems 20/30 miles East was under the streamer activity. Not expecting to see much on Sunday being on the coast but I'm high up so do have some hope!

Dry as a bone in Milford Haven and looks like zero chance of snow.

As in 30 miles south. Another 20 and we’d be in the best place

Last time we had one of these sliders it was forecast at T24 Northern extent Manchester, ended up piviting virtually over my house leaving me totally dry and dumping as far up as North Yorkshire. I think most of Wales did well then? March 2013 I think

Cheers Sam. That precipitation type forecast is based on the 12Z, yes? Well, I'm being cautious but based on that and the 18Z output that Andy shared, I think it's safe to say that all hope is not lost but yes, a slight shift southwards is desirable if we're all to get in on the snow and not just higher ground.

Just had a heavy snow shower with some nice big flakes of snow, cars and roofs all white, just what I've been waiting for made me happy for the night!
