It's certainly looking like our best chance of the season. I'm not expecting snowmageddon, but a covering would be nice.

Roll on Thursday/Friday! Let the lamppost watching commence. :cold:

Thursday/friday looking interesting for wales, especially in the north with a cold unstable northwesterly airflow. We can normally get good potential from this airflow so heres hoping.

Thursday into Friday is currently looking interesting for some wintry weather across Wales as more of a Polar Maritime airmass takes control across the country.

Lets hope the North West flow can hold out long enough before reverting back to a less cold Westerly flow.

Just been looking at the possible shower distribution for Thursday/Friday on the NetWx-MR model:

78hrs .png

Lines up pretty nicely with the recent Met Office warnings. I wouldn't be surprised to see a streamer set up around NW Wales & NW England and another moving in off Cardigan bay.

Pretty brave to put weather warnings so early in the week ,they seem to agree with GFS snow charts for Thursday Friday which heavy snow showers across all of Wales which shows quite a few bands of snow showers crossing Wales 20170108.2303.PPVO89.png06_75_preciptype.png?cb=38906_105_preciptype.png?cb=389

Despite the differences between the 'main' GFS model and the ECMWF the Control run (as it's called) of the GFS is similar to EC by 240hrs

possible major easterly on our hands then after the north westerly - bringing that bitter european weather to our shores:cold::cold:

not sure south east wales will do so well out of this first northerly blast - so yes maybe more likely to be cold rather than snow and cold - but we'll have to see when we get closer to the time - brecons and mountains of wales usually take the sting out of the snow showers - but anything from the atlantic bumping into the cold air could deliver and if the easterly is on then we may get europes weather dropped on us too

No problem ,don"t worry, ,just watch radar and see streamers form especially Thursday night into Friday as the wind becomes more  Northerly as showers become more widespread.A lot of radar watching is required as streamers develope quickly,You know what they say the most fun is in the thrill of the chase!:whistling:
