As previously discussed the potent Northerly will arrive with snow for some over high ground (sorry Pom!).

Then some models bringing in a cut off Greenland high with 2010 synoptics starting to show its hand.

And given the continued weakened PV, the whole of December could be pretty special.

I don't even like snow anyway...........

Is it going to be cold enough for snow on the 20th, though?

Too right, Ronan. We appear to be in a good spot for potential snow later this week. All charts seem to show something is in the air.

I'm sensing a stonking winter in the wings. Good PV displacement coming up. Eyes to the skies/lamposts this weekend.:cold-emoji:

18z ensemble charts indicate a 100% chance for snow in Omagh on the 17th. Can't be bad to that, haha!

Things moving in the right direction, over the next number of weeks it's now or never for cold weather fans.

Recorded 15.2c yesterday, hopefully it will be a long while before I see a temp like that again.

The latest Strat projections are showing a virtual complete collapse of the polar vortex and a reversal of mean zonal winds as we enter Winter proper.

It really is looking 2010 all over again.

One noteworthy thing, how warm much of the arctic currently is ,up to and over 20c above normal this week. Crazy,I just hope if a cold spell was to come from that direction the cold would not be too diluted.

I think initially that will be case, however, the longer the HLB persists, the deeper cold will come eventually.

Interesting....

Enjoy the mild day today, I don't think we'll see 10 degrees for a good while.

Really cold end of the week and start of next week with the risk of wintriness almost anywhere, but clearly higher ground will help. Not expecting anything disruptive but it will be Baltic.

That's my first forecast snow symbol of the season....
