MetO forecast has updated to show snow overnight and right up to lunch time tomorrow.

With precipitation from a nnw direction I'm hoping is down the eastern side have something to look forward to tomorrow am

Amber snow warning from NI weather Facebook, details haven't been updated

AMBER & Yellow warnings of Snow has been issued for parts of Northern Ireland (See Map) These warnings are now in force and are valid until 08:00 13/01/2017

This warning supersedes previous warning issued.

Further sleet & snow showers are expected this overnight. Frequent and heavy in places and may become prolonged at times. Varying accumulations are expected over the warning area with up to 10cm or more possible to low levels and possibly 15 - 20cm over the hills within the amber warning area. 3 - 6cm possible in places and 10cm over the hills within the yellow warning area. Snow may also fall outside of the warning area, this map is just a guide.

Note that not all areas will receive the same amounts and some may miss out completely, accumulations will vary across the country as the snow is expected in the form of showers. However there could be larger accumulations where heavy showers occur or merge into longer spells of snow.

There is also a risk of thunder in some of the heavier showers, a few flashing of lightning have already been reported in the west.

Winds will become strong at times later this evening, not high enough to warrant a warning but may lead to some blizzard like conditions.

These combined conditions will lead to some hazardous conditions across much of the country along with possible disruption to travel and power supplies.

Ice is also likely to form overnight as temperatures drop well below freezing.

The public should be aware of possible hazardous conditions overnight and tomorrow with Ice, falling, lying & drifting snow possible and blizzard like conditions.

Lol, yep I think the map is a touch  excessive its falling as sleet in many parts currently, and down here in cork we have gone from snow to rain in the space of an hour

So this warm sector has thrown everything out of the pram. Was it impossible to forecast beforehand? (Not a dig, just wondering if its actually possible to forecast these things)

Maybeeee? I have noticed a few showers on radar get a bit heavier as they crossed over the Lough, including one just now.

I don't real bother forecasting anywhere anymore Facebook ect not really worth the hassle. But I saw it this morning pretty easily and was a tad upset :D. I'm sure trained met's would have seen it easily.

No Idea lol.  But ive followed them for like 6 years.  Haven't been to far off in the past, especially with storms.

Had a moderate snow shower for about 10 mins at 7pm. That was all. Didn't stick anywhere. Not expecting much else tonight.

Well SE Antrim has seen very little snowy action at all. An icing sugar dusting on the ground, now very cold and clear and i think the moon is out. Not worth sitting up lamppost watching for. Disappointing after all the hype! Good night all! Sweet and snowy dreams!!!
