The ECM has us in the firing line Abyss perhaps it would be best to cook the turkey on Christmas Eve....

Aye. Would be a red alert for sure if it verified. Winds over 100mph just off the West coast at 1pm Xmas day

Unfortunately this morning what I thought would happen yesterday when I posted it has happened! Chance of snow has been reduced quite a bit on the models and the  met eireann forecast has completed changed from their snow outlook . No surprise and really this winter is worse than last year because then we didn't have all these wonderful background signals!

Was just coming on to post the same thing, Neiller. Absolutely rubbish output now for next weekend and onwards.

6z does have slightly colder air over us versus the 0z on rhe 24th so maybe a chance. Christmas day has a wedge of warmer uppers moving through and could be very rough early in the morning closely followed by another storm on the 26th. Would be some craic if we could pull in cold enough air in those storms for snow. Imagine the blizzards!

Christmas day still looking a tad stormy   gfs-0-171-3h_yih5.png

You can see the storm develope on UKMO as well but the timing is slower i hope this storm can hold off for after Christmas day as it will mix the cold air out essentially the UKMO is a colder looking run. We will see snow showers this week im sure of it.

It better cause i have £50 on Belfast international seeing a flake on the big day..

Dont write that in the model thread they will be after you with pitchforks. Funny old bunch in there

I got 4 highly strung pms for saying I didn't believe in long range FC's. Sensitive bunch is more accurate :cold-emoji:

12z now my official favourite model haha! Who knows what will happen but we (along with NW Scotland) appear to be in the best spit if it all falls on the correct side of marginal. If it does happen we could hit the jackpot! No doubt the 18z will take away all our fun!

Surely we'd get snowfall with those uppers, abyss?

I'd say a decent chance of seeing snow(falling at least) for the NW this upcoming week. 170m asl you have a better chance than most

Added to that, ECM 12z removed the storm feature, but still windy nonetheless! At the very end of the run, it showed heights in the mid Atlantic stretching to southern Greenland. New trend?

its the hope that kills ye!

First snow flakes starting to show up for me on BBC app (just for fun as those apps are as useful as t*ts on a boar)
