12z GFS is an upgrade for some! Prolonging snow for 6hrs into friday

I don't think any organised snow will last for all that long as there is such strong winds within the flow but if any area does get caught in that, then expect blizzards for sure.

I think for us, I would want it a bit further Westwards as the PPN charts could well be a bit mis-leading in terms of it western extent, however too far west then the mild sector could come into play but as per ever, lets see what the forecasts say and of course the radar!

Im sure if the showers are heavy which is more than likely then we'll see snow right on the beaches

indeed SFZ,  I know there are all sorts ot ways we can in theory get snow here, but i will be forever tainted by 2010, i.e if ice days and minus double digits are not forecast, I expect sleet at best.

on 2010, the snow we got Dec 19th, was that the start of the bitter cold, or had we had ice days and bitter nights already by then?

Yes so today started with a downgrade for Thursday but now a possible upgrade for the early hours of Friday morning.  Indeed if some of the precipitation type charts come off, it would be blizzards on the tops of the pennines and not a great deal of fun even lower down..... still a lot to be decided before it's time for eyes-down nowcasting.  Windy tomorrow.

Honestly I can see it upgrading to a amber warning somwhere in the NW England. Judging by the charts some places could see 20cm!!

The window for us is being cut short by little shortwaves in the flow- one to south Thursday which halts the NW flow somewhat and one from north on Friday. However, Thurs eve still looks interesting here...this is Cheshire's best chance

It's a radar event all day long. Beer, food, I pad, Lampost that's all you need.

I think its going to be a washout for most of the NW.

Wintry showers been the order of the day but lying snow looks transient inland, towards the coast no chance, this is backed up by the EURO4.
