It feels colder today/tonight than it did yesterday here but if it actually is I don't know. However for St helens which is usually wet and mild it feels colder.

Setups like this make our winters now look utterly pathetic!

Best ever snow set up for North Cheshire was 01 Jan 1979, a rare polar low dumped about 16 hours snow on us

Pretty sure that this would be the system that dropped 3 feet of snow across this part of the Pennines.

thankfully I'm not old enough to remember it but my grandad often told me that the heaviest single snowfall he had ever seen happened in early 1940 and he had lived through the winters of 1933, 47 and 63.

as you say it's pathetic considering we can't get more than a few cm of the stuff these days.

Conwy Promenade closed due to storm-surge, surprised that parts of the Dee/Mersey haven't been issued any flood-warnings yet.

Bit of a slushy mix this morning, a decent covering left from overnight snow from the southerly tracking low, but with no further snow after 7am and sunny skies, footfall and traffic...the snow soon went into it's decomposing slushy state.  Forecast for more snow showers later but looking at the radar they look to far west at present.

Yes, I think there is quite a northerly element in the week still.

The 12z euro4 brings the showers from about midnight till 6am

I find that odd as out of the two airports I'd expect Manchester to be slightly colder.

-0.3'c, DP at -2.5'c so undoubtedly further snowfall for the Peak District overnight assuming they arrive in this direction.
