A bit of a miserable day's weather but at least it stopped dry for me to sort the conservatory gutter leak out.

a few trees cut back as well so all in all not a bad day.

its been raining on and off since dark though

Mmmm not turning out to be a bad day overall, at a coffee shop out in MCR before sampling the st Paddy parade and it feels very springlike when the sun pops out behind the clouds.  Poor things a bit shy at this time of the year though, and quickly scuttles back under cloud cover.  That said not a bad early march day

Drizzle in the morning and mostly overcast here all day, although it was warm enough outside (12'c) not to need a jumper on beneath the coat. Daffodils are already starting to appear and apparently the first Sand Martin of the year was spotted towards Glossop only 2 days ago.

This morning I had a brief glimpse of the most incredible sky with a mixture of mackerel sky and lens clouds all lit with the sunrise, looked like loads of ufos!

Just the perfect day for mid March, blue skies warm sunshine and temperature maxed at

16.9c at 14.00

As for the models total yuk in fact next Tuesday and Wednesday is horrendous with winter set to return briefly with sleet and substantial Hill snow and temperatures of 4c

Let's hope that gets downgraded thanks GFS but no thanks about five weeks to late.

Yep I think we've all got a smidgen of Irish in us at this time of the year.  That'll be my excuse for having a guinness later.

...back to the weather....rain all day, with more to come.

The weather here is terrible. It has been rained here all day and it is still coming down. According to the weather BBC app it won't die off until the early hours. Should they put the warning out for us?

A typical dire Derbyshire day today. Its not even worth heading out this evening for a few Irish drinks, but at least next week has some snow potential to look forward to.

Hammered it down all day and still raining now and the local rivers have certainly responded.

tomorrow we've got rain to look forward to and then Sunday's dry forecast has now been changed to ........you've guessed it.

never mind it's turning colder with a chance of snow next week so at least our region will become drier than the Atacami

  • Chilly with an increasing risk of frost

Once Monday's band of rain fades, the next few days will be drier. However, it will feel cool, even cold, in the breeze or under gloomy skies, with an increasing risk of frost. Read the full update here

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming. Week Ahead: Cool but largely dry until later in the week, when low pressure returns

We keep a chilly northerly flow going through much of the coming week, especially noticeable in the east. Cloud and rain spreading south Monday, but after that, most places largely dry until later in the week, when it looks to turn more showery. Read the full update here
