Significantly drier back here in Heswall. Not many puddles and singing birds too... weird!

Such a shame on the wrong side of Marginal, the rain has been heavy and intense for the last four hours.i reckon 15cm of snow easily if this had been a snow event, alas my back garden resembles a Duck pond, surprised METO have not put a warning out for this rain, because it certainly was not forecast to be this bad.

I understand your disappointment and I feel the same. However, today it was a nice surprise (well, okay this morning mainly) and the updated euro 4 is giving our region a very nice dollop of heavy snow for tomorrow evening/night. You look to be in the sweet spot for tomorrow night.

Manchester Airport TAF starting to pick up on the possible snow tomorrow in its latter stages.

That is one intense area of snow tomorrow night on the Euro4,had a look at the DP across the region looking at -1 to -2  uppers at -5

Will wait and see what happens

Looks good for the region and after so many let downs we're more than overdue a decent event but I'll believe we've finally hit the jackpot when I have to dig my way out of the front door on Thursday morning.

I definitely feel there should have been a yellow warning for rain today. The wettest day for nine months here and nothing, but countless rain warnings before today when there was barely anything.

In the model thread, as expected just shows over Pennines and Welsh mountains, RIP winters low down south

Worryingly even high ground is missing out these days

Yep, i see the local fells every day about 300M ASL, and they haven't been white once this winter, unbelievably poor.

Forecasters still going for heavy snow across high ground later today and overnight which, coupled with the expected strong winds would make for an interesting drive for anyone crossing the Pennines on Thursday morning.

still think it will turn out to be the usual let down in the end but at least it's still on the cards.

Yes also a risk of snow for low ground according to Carol on Breakfast

Sorry I know some people don't like tweets being shared on the forums. However this has relevance to our region tonight.

So we shall see later, if it is just a 250m + event or if we get the right side of marginal and have low levels getting in on the action too.

Updated Airport TAF for overnight

Rain showers turning to snow.

Pretty much the same as the regional forecast that also indicted a covering to low ground

Not getting my hopes up for tonight, Met Office app looks very uninspiring. 2 or 3C & heavy cold rain throughout. Doesn't come more insulting than that.
