Sounds great, amazing place!

My friends went to Sicily a few weeks ago but couldn't go up to Etna because of a blizzard on the day of the excursion!

I work up at Dovestones for the RSPB. I monitor the populations for butterflies etc. Last year was terrible after the April cold spell disrupted things a lot, one of the worst years for butterflies and it affected the birds food supplies.

We would be alright with a March cold spell but into April and May it gets more dodgy.

Dont get me wrong I enjoy the snow whenever it turns up, but much better if it's seasonal.

I love Butterflies !!! Love seeing them flying about in the summer

Arome going for over a foot of snow on some of the hill tops. Could be tricky on the M62 summit with 16cm showing up for there by the end of tomorrow.

Maybe, but the models quoting depths have hardly covered themselves in glory so far this weekend.

one thing is certain though, whether it's snow, sleet or plain old rain it's going to feel pretty damned cold at the football on Sunday.

A few flurries dancing in the air, but today might hold more interest than yesterday particularly on the highest ground.  I'm taking elderly relative into uppermill later so might see more of a sprinkling up there.

Edit: just seen a gritter going about its business.  Cold winds freshening.

We've got the slightest covering here from a couple of showers around dawn.

its brighter now but occasional snow flurries are blowing about in the wind and that wind is perishing.

off out with the dog now so will be interesting to see how it is higher up.
