Regional weather just on BBC

For tomorrow afternoon quote"A snowy sleety wetty mix"Honestly do we really pay these

People..Anyway the good news Dianne on at six to discuss the snow prospects for the next few days..Think I will give that one a miss.

C.S.

Why? She'll be ecstatically telling us they'll be no snow. What's not to like?

Louise Lear on the national weather is almost as happy I see.

Basic weather presenters for the masses!

They need to get banned and replaced by Alex Deakin.

Quite a positive regional text forecast."

This Evening and Tonight:

There will be some clear spells initially this evening, however it will gradually turn cloudier through the night. Wintry showers will become more frequent, leading to some accumulations over the hills. A cold night with a widespread frost. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

Saturday:

Saturday will be fairly cloudy with frequent showers falling as wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow. A brisk easterly wind will exacerbate the cold feel. Maximum Temperature 5 °C."

Forecasters keep saying how cold it is but I remembered this morning, when I was little my mum would have the washing out on the line and it would be frozen stiff!

I remembered a morning just 7 years ago when it was -16.5C on my thermometer.

I wouldn't based how cold it is by how frozen stiff the washing goes on the line.

Well it's a blizzard in Oldham TC, but it's a blizzard of snizzle.  These ice grains need to man up, grow a bit and start causing some disruption

No snow here

 Cloudy but dry.

It was sunny for a time today but has clouded over

In the sun today it didn't feel that cold

Arome going for half a foot of snow on the highest Pennine passes. Looks like a covering about 200m upwards. Marginal below that. Probably won't get anything where I am..... too low down.

Just looking at the update.... has 20-25cm for the tippytops... im a 7-10cm area..... but im doubting that for here.... i guess its more of a nowcasting situation and keeping an eye on the radar and arome over the next few updates.... snow showers throughout the day have given temporary dustings with occasional moderate snizzle/snow grains.... stocked up on wood for log burner.... looking at the full update its going for 20-26cm by 7am sunday over the tops.... some nice sledding in peaks if that came off....

A brief heavy shower on my way home turned everything white but other than that it's been a mainly dry day here.

looking half decent over the weekend for more eastern parts of the region but unless your very lucky or live on the top of the Pennines, it's probably going to feel like yet another let down.

I haven't seen any either but it's one of those setups where a flurry of snow is definitely a possibility

Anything now? Looks like radar returns have developed around the Wirral.

Nothing.. I can only think either anaprop or they have evaporated before hitting the ground
