Sleety rain here as well. Was expecting it to be plain old rain so a bit of a surprise. Bit meh about the forthcoming easterly...we don't really do well from them this side of the country.

yes, not great, then looks like a very wet day on Mon 13th as cold shot comes to an end,

Didn't get even the slightest bit of sleet here from the passing front, but I see part of the A57 (Snake Pass) has been affected by snow.

We had snow for about half an hour but it didn't take long for the default setting of rain to return

However no doubt clear skies will arrive just in time to turn everything to damned ice again in the morning

An evening of cold heavy rain as you might describe it. Temps hovering around 3 degrees. Suspect higher level routes such as Kirkstone Pass and Shap Summit will have seen some wet slushy stuff. Fells will be getting a very decent cover. Hoping tomorrow's milder uppers won't cause too much of a thaw, as the colder dry outlook should keep it very firm through until the weekend - could be a cracker of a one for decent winter walking conditions, a few show showers for a fresh top up would do wonders as well.

Nice to see the express once again coming up with sensationalist headlines without any substance to back them up.

maybe if the most likely scenario was described then the headline would be Britain to endure weeks of slightly above average temperatures along with cloud, mist and drizzle......doesn't sell papers though.

East of the region in a decent spot fri and sat as it stands.Depending on the strength of the winds i wouldnt be suprised to see snow showers blown widely across the region.

I have said before easterlies tend to deliver for greater manchester so fingers crossed for something a bit more positive on the meto apps which at the moment look pretty naff.

It felt like 16c today out walking in the sun.  Wind was almost non-existent.  I'm sure we'll be shivering when the easterly kicks in especially at the weekend.  Only expecting a few flurries in the air at best on this side of the Pens.

Quite warm in the sunshine around sheltered parts whilst out for a drive today, forgot to mention that yesterday there was brief snow-flurries on the Long-Hill road between Buxton and Whaley but only at the top-end of the Goyt Valley. Looks like typical rain-showers for this evening although the first anvil-head was seen this afternoon at 3pm associated with a strong cell towards Stoke-on-Trent.

No sure about you mate, but we need a belting easterly to get any showers over the pennines, yet in the bloody summer they have no problem!! :nonono:

Anyways far too busy for this model lark lately...
