Meto update pretty uninspiring really with a mention of wintry showers friday.

Weekend might hold a bit more interest esp east of the region.

For mby im wary of the SE winds being forecast as thats a poor flow with the peak district gobbling up all the precip..

As yesterday's update was dry for the weekend then Wintry Showers is an upgrade in my view.Anyway relax mate the cold is coming snow will follow not straight away, but with many experts expecting this cold spell to last until the end of February there will be chances galore to come

Thought there must be an e'rly in the offing when i saw all the new posts in the MO thread, been a while since i've had a look in there.

Lets get the cold air here and see what happens - normally we don't get anything in the way of snow in this part of the region out of the e/ne/se - could do with a stalling front as in feb 96 ..... would that be too much to ask :cold:

Temp 3• and let's of sleety blobs in the rain maybe we could get some back edge wet snow with the cooling effect and the cold front?-this wasn't predicted for my area anyway

I'm in bootle Merseyside -right by the coast too-anyone else Walton/Crosby/Wirral noticed the sleet ?

I'm currently in Waterloo and about to go in check. If it carries on this heavy evaporative cooling will help it turn to snow eventually.

PS  maybe you could put your location on your profile. :-)

Rain knocking on the door here after a very reasonable start to the day.  Winds making it feel a bit raw towards mid-afternoon.  Latest GFS shows snow showers affecting midlands southwards (esp South East) on Sunday.  Might have to get used to that prognosis into next week.  I feel we'll have the bone-chilling easterly winds, but zippo precipitation.  The hills to the east/south east will gobble up anything convective.

Ive just noticed on the bus window there is tiny bit of ice where the rain drop just landed here.

Ha. Net weather radar shows rain. But I've just come out and it is sleet hitting car windscreen.

Same here, sleet down the valley but snow up here.

Sleety rain here as well. Was expecting it to be plain old rain so a bit of a surprise. Bit meh about the forthcoming easterly...we don't really do well from them this side of the country.
