Every beast from the east that I can remember, and that's not many, have been rubbish here. November 2010 is spoken of reverently but I got nothing from that here.  Only 17th December was memorable but that was a NWerly.

Sat watching the football and can hear the rain lashing against the window.

Radar says sleet,I have no idea if any snow mixed in and not looking either.

If I lived on the East coast I may be interested in next week.

Struggle to get anything off a dry Easterly here.

Agree with this...our best hope is for an Atlantic front to appear and move into the cold air and stall over us, as happened in 1996.

Latest GFS shows this happening next Tuesday, but I won't be holding my breath... It will probably be a slow, excruciating breakdown with milder air being pushed ahead of the rain and eventually fizzling out before raging westerlies follow on, blowing the continental block back to mid russia.   Well that's my previous experience of similar situations in recent years.

Keep an eye on tomorrow night, could be a surprise snowfall for places with modest heights, say 200-300 mark. Dewpoints look marginal, but the cold surface air, and aid of evaporative cooling, could produce a fair bit of wet snow at least down to quite low levels. Expecting higher level routes over the Pennines and Cumbria to be significantly affected.

Saw that on the Countryfile forecast.

as you say maybe some surprises on Tuesday morning but not getting my hopes up to much.

just had to come out of the model thread due to risk of injury from toys being thrown from prams after the downgrades to next weekend's threatened easterly started.

A chilly -3'c here overnight with some Atlantic action to look forward to today before the return of the easterlies again. A possibility of some snowfall across the higher-routes overnight but not really anything significant other than a cm or two covering the tops of Kinder and Bleaklow.

Meto update pretty uninspiring really with a mention of wintry showers friday.

Weekend might hold a bit more interest esp east of the region.

For mby im wary of the SE winds being forecast as thats a poor flow with the peak district gobbling up all the precip..
