What cold? What snow? 2 hail showers last night, thaw this morning, nothing even on top of the A55. Clwydian Range tops (above 400m) are white but that is it, a storm in a tea cup (yes, we got the wind of course). Never believe to the Meto, just look at the gfs diagram, that is more accurate: nothing special was on it a week back until now and it was right. Come on Spring, no need for another 2 months of 0-5C and cloud with a sleet shower (sorry guys).

There was still snow/hail on the ground at home when I left this morning, we had by Prestons standards a reasonable covering last night from the showers after 8pm.  Hail started around 10ish and then it seemed to warm up a bit - was surprised it hadn't all gone this mnorning.

There isnt much snow around between Preston and Lancaster, a bit on the hills to the east but not as much as i'd expected to see.  Plenty on the fells in the lakes though.

What always amuses me is southern areas are colder than we are and see more snow than we do. Unfortunately when the south get snow it becomes national news.  I was disappointed by this 'cold snap' here in sunny st Helens.

Previously very gusty with trees moving so I'd say F7.  Now a little calmer, partly cloudy and no precipitation.

Current Liverpool METAR: EGGP 130920Z 31026G37KT 9999 VCSH SCT029 BKN039 06/00 Q1009

Liverpool ATIS reporting 09:20Z wind 310 21kt gusting 35kt temp 6C DP 0C pressure 1009hpa high wind warning in force.

Liverpool ATIS is on 124.320MHz, if using a scanner you may have to ensure it is switched to receive AM - my set automatically switches to AM for Air Band.  Many radios claimed to receive Air Band are basically standard FM radios with extended FM (VHF) coverage however the ratio detector employed by most "consumer" radios can't properly resolve AM.

What cold snap pffft bit of sleet for 5 min other than that rain and hail don't see much happening tonight either in my location but if it's wind and rain can guarantee it will be nailed on

Exactly. Moreover, full whiteout from prolonged/merged snow showers for last night was forecasted in BBC just 2 days ago to the NW.

Wet outside. Rained overnight, even when it's productive, our region is still almost as bad as Cornwall for snow isn't it.

Not holding out any hope for tonight, or much of winter for that matter.

Yes exactly, now your talking :good:

If we get somewhere close to this setup then the whole region has better snow chances.

Just looked at the models for tonight's potential showers but it is looking marginal I think, Dew points around or just above freezing, -4 uppers. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Areas further inland and hills should do well. Coastal areas rain or hail.

However the showers look like having a decent intensity which should help.

Showers are all fine and dandy, but the air temp across much of the region is 3-6C, dew points might be ok still, but it's too mild

The pavements here are coated with ice and slush  this morning after an earlier Ice storm.  Expect few more wintry showers today/tonight if the Irish Sea gets its act together.
