The front just coming into north scotland appears to be more westerly positioned than I would have thought.  That could be good news when we wake up early tomorrow.

The 18Z aswell as the GFS 12Z run has it further westwards also and much slower to head southwards however the mild sector is also further westwards so its getting to the stage where it could become to marginal for some? Either way, the BBC forecasts may need to upgrade their graphics soon if this shift westwards is indeed correct.

It is a surprise to me. 850's were programmed to be around -5/6c from early hours and DP's 0/-1C

The "colder" air -7/8C 850's -2 DPP's was programmed from this afternoon.

I didn't see any output with DP's of +3C for today which is what we currently have in my location along with rain.

Personally I'd say it is a fair bit less cold than the models or forecasts would of have us believe but the embedded trough developed more than expected meaning more mixing.

Wind direction at Manchester airport is currently Southerly!

For some reason Euro4 not displaying correctly for me but here was last nights 18z, Dp's around freezing and 850's -6/-7 for 8AM this morning.

To be fair the GFS had it pretty much spot on, EURO4 was more favourable as you say.

GFS had predicted the much milder dewpoints (above freezing) which we had this morning. In fact it got the transition to colder air at 3pm pretty much correct.

As for right now, we have a light dusting in South Manchester, and the radar looks promising for a wee bit more.

Drier than a witches foot here. Just need one of these bands to expand so it covers the entire region and allows evaporative cooling near the coast.

Oddly a relative in Denshaw says they have no snow at all. Yet here 200m lower down we have a covering.

If that day 10 chart verified there's only one place we're going after that and that's 2010. :yahoo:

Just back in after lovely greek meal near city centre.  There was constant heavy sleet and hail showers. Now here sleety showers again.
