I think we got to be careful not too take the radar to literally as these are small shower cells so very localised in nature so whilst it may say you got PPN you might not of but a mile or two down the road has.

As I said earlier, really tricky predicting what the radar is going to show next.

The stuff that is meant to head southwards tonight is closing in on Northern Scotland, be interesting too check the weather stations up there and see the temps and dew points and of course the wind which is forecast to really strengthen.

My kids school is half mile away and there posting pics near the school it all white!:nonono: yet here!!!

On another note.Just coming into view on the radar is the band of snow expected to come down in the early hours.Above Scotland.

After watching the radar It looks like with have 2 streamers/corridors of ppn.

I predict anyone in those corridors could wake up to 2-5cms.

Yikes. How unfortunate.

I don't just have palm trees in my garden I have cacti too, and you can imagine why that is.

Nice coming down now not really heavy but fluffy moderate.

We have lift off! Frustrating day after each days models showed perfect WNW for here only for the shortwave to kill it off.

However, we have Snow in Ramsbottom now too!  Everything covered and for last 30mins alternated between light and moderate.

An occluded front, like any front, provides uplift and precipitation. It's good for snow as the warm air is lifted away from the surface (we are talking relatively warm here) so the dreaded warm sector doesn't reach the ground so more likely to be snow.  That's the theory, no idea whether this one is going to hit us or not, someone else may have been studying it more closely?....
