Well my sister said she and mum have just arrived in Liverpool by coach and the weathers absolutely fine, no snow, nothing. They've gone to the theatre.

The showers appear to be dying back as they travel over land, so areas near the coast might see passing showers but I think areas east in the region won't be receiving anything decent.

Diane Oxberry in 'I told you so' mode and positively euphoric at Sunday's mild temperatures.... okay, okay you win this one.... we'll get you back some day.

There's still energy out west so fingers crossed it'll cause some more convection overnight.

Just gone out and checked and many places have frozen over, this is what it must be like living at altitude (well compared to Crewe :D) It is only planned to get colder so just got to hope some more things actually fall from the sky.

Please don't mention that woman, I deliberately don't watch BBC NW forecasters for the mediocre quality of our local weather presenters.

I laughed at a tweet by Ian Fergusson referring to tweeters to tweet their local BBC weather areas for snow prospects.

Are you kidding?

The spin-off to the NW of Dublin, not sure if that's a PL or just a low-pressure vortex being enhanced.

770 j/kg CAPE and -4 LI showing for midnight over Liverpool bay; that is respectable in summer!

0.5 degrees currently between Congleton and Macclesfield at about 100m altitude. Shower clouds rattling through. Snowed quite heavily this afternoon but didn't settle. Made hills white over with snow lying above about 150m.

Well, just been out in the car in a mini blizzard to drop my girlfriend off at the gym. We had to turn back as roads where dicey as hell! Settled very quickly, dry again now.

There is some troughs/fronts in the fax charts which suggests something more organised, kinda makes the winds veering more northerly even more frustrating but be interesting how things will develop.

Had nothing falling out of the sky since before the sun set. Maybe I'll be lucky to get a dusting from that band moving down from Scotland. Even still, I shouldn't complain It's been less than 12 months since my last  decent snowfall. Here's hoping some of you wake up to scenes like this from march last year.....

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
