Had a hail shower here this afternoon which actually looked slightly sleety in parts although no true snowflakes were seen so its hard too tell but apart from a couple of showers this morning, quite quiet here although there were showers in the vicinity and its one of those days where its hard to fully tell if the showers was going to head this way.

Some areas could see some snowfall tonight I feel, winds will drop slightly so its all down to if any PPN will actually be hit by showers.

Had a covering of snow here in Droylsden today, given the time of year how early it is not bad for a low lying area not far from the city centre, probably earliest covering of snow since 2010. Just bits of snow left on sheltered grassy areas now around here, tops of cars etc.

Was woken up by multiple rumbles of fairly close thunder. slushy mess at 7am on the way to work so went on the Aprilia bike only to have to head back at 12 as it was teeming down with snow. Nice early start to winter!!!!

Interesting day... some beefy snow showers, and hail.  The cars have done their job and churned it all up into a slushy mess on the side streets.  Main roads are clear.  Mostly sleet/rain now when the showers come so ice may be the major factor if temps fall low enough overnight.  Two spells of falling snow but nothing sticking for long at my local level... still only just halfway through November.

Left home first thing to a couple of cm of slushy snow, spent much of the day driving in a mixture of rain and sunshine and temperatures as high as 8c, came home to more wet slushy snow and further up the hill it's proper thick snow........forget location, location, location.....it's all about altitude, altitude, altitude and unfortunately today mine wasn't quite enough.

Just hope it doesn't freeze otherwise the slushy mess on my drive will be lethal.

Whilst early 2013 was a decent Winter overall the problem was it took ages to kick in & we had to wait until mid Jan for the snow....... So I am encouraged by this early start as a lot of us in the east & north of the region have seen at least some snow cover today. It has arrived about a week earlier than Nov 2010, just a shame nothing as sustained/severe like 2010 is likely to happen.

Quite surprised with the amount of showers we've had today, normally don't get many even in a westerly flow, 2010 for example it switched to westerly for a short while and whilst the south of the region got plastered, there was only 1cm here.

Frankly maybe it was. I wish it were snow!!

I hope by the new month, we will see plenty of opportunities!  It is only twelve days to go now until Winter!! :)

line of anvils/cb's to my north, Stockport, assume only falling as rain, as this thread is too quiet

It's certainly the case here, just had a couple of showers which were sleety at best but then fell on frozen surfaces so the cars were coated in thick, clear ice.

fortunately the roads have been gritted otherwise it would be chaos but this is one side of winter conditions I really hate and the one I would swap for mild mush any day.
