Ice will be an issue tonight as temperatures drop away to near freezing

No snow cover at all here this morning, even relatives in Saddleworth had basically nothing at 250m, just the lightest of sugar dusting on their garden table and chairs.

Indeed, and yet across the border into west yorky places with much less altitude had a covering!! Hence my preference for winds from an easterly direction every single time...

Agree, for us in the east of the region easterlys are everything - low dew point being the main thing with far less marginality & those epic streamers getting over from the North Sea. Most of the time anything that comes in from the west tends to be far too marginal because of the warm Irish sea and higher dew points.

We had a couple of cm's of slushy snow here but further down the valley nothing at all.

Still it's only autumn so plenty of time for the harshest winter for a gazillion years to cripple the country.

Absolutely pounding down with rain, monsoon style. Who ever says autumn has been benign is blowing bubbles out of their rectum.

I see Oldham on the rainfall radar currently -2.oc here . I might see Hill snow as that band of heavy rain pushes East meeting colder air.

Big if though . I'm up early for work finish at 9am so not so bad.lol

00z. Is churning out looks like a bit of an upgrade up to T+162 hrs.so far.

Supposed to have been a frost with ice overnight according to the forecast if I remember right, had showers on/off with rain bouncing off the roof-tiles since midnight. Beeb going for sub-zero conditions into tonight however.

And I was correct and for a lot of the rest of the region as well. been under a streamer for the past day it seems. Currently 8.4°C, Min 7.8°C.

The wind veers off-shore  again overnight so perhaps there will be a frost this time in the early hours.

North westerly streamers starting to move inland now, will get a downpour soon.  I want a setup like this to be on the right side of marginal aka 2010 and we get foot falls of snow I tell ya.  Trouble is getting on the right side of that marginal, more often like today it's just rain all the way.... still plenty of time still ahead and the models do hint at a few potent PM blasts via north westerlies......in D+never.

A sunny morning followed by an afternoon under a streamer of heavy showers. A fairly mile day, max 10.3°C, currently 7.0°C. Could drop   Near freezing once the wind veers off-shore later.
