I have taken the decision to stay put this weekend. Let's hope that Cheshire streamer can get going Friday! After an utterly boring past 12 months (no snow, a couple of rumbles of thunder) I am ready for some action. Let's have it!

What do you class as the NW Midlands?

Highlights from the most recent BBC national forecast.

1st image - A trough brings snow showers south across the Midlands early hours of Friday.

2nd image - Cheshire Gap streamer, possibly reaching as far as London. Feeling bitter.

3rd image - Potential for disruptive snow on Sunday (high level of uncertainty).

It would be just nice to see a bit of the white stuff falling! Seems like years since we had anything decent here and the last time it happened I was in New Zealand (although I'm not going to moan too much about that!). I see the Met Office has upgraded the forecast here for Friday. Fingers crossed. I'm also very glad I've got winter tyres on my car, hopefully this year we will actually need them.

I think it’s going to be an interesting few days coming up, at least if we do get snow it may not melt all that quick of course that depends on what happens sunday

I seriously hope not, we have to pick my Father-in-law up from Hadfield soon! We're going to need a bigger snow-plough.

Lol I know - but given that I have to make that journey combined with my usual luck - your chances of a total white-out blizzard-fest have just risen exponentially

Meanwhile Birmingham will stay as grey as a seriously wet grey thing.

These slider lows could give anywhere in U.K. snow over the next week...be sure to watch new league of gentlemen week before Christmas...they were filming when I was away in Iceland.....

I don't post much but I've been watching the forum and the model output discussion thread long enough to know that with snow in the UK we are pretty much down to now-casting the vast majority of the time when it comes to specific locations. I remember a massive snow event in 2005 that gridlocked Brum that the MetOffice assumed was going to be rain right up until it was actually snow, and an awful lot of it. Car abandoned, I trudged home along with 1000's of others in the snow and the silence that comes with a good fall with not one car moving. It was quite an experience.

Looks quite exciting for Friday in our region ;) I'm on the western outskirts of Coventry (Eastern Green so Meriden/Berkswell side) and our forecast is not as strong as Solihull or Marston Green. Hoping it stretches a few miles east. Still, I would take this setup anytime over what we've had the last few years :D

Tomorrows snow event has really creeped up on me, didnt know of its existence until a few hours ago. Currently forecast a good 6 hours of light snow on the BBC graphic.

Tomorrow night for me. Too far east for the Friday morning  showers apart from the odd one.
