I wouldn't know. Only been living up here since June last year.

I doubt the GFS will have a handle on that system just yet. Although, I also think we would need colder uppers in place. May just be that the Pennines get a pasting. Or it could track further west still and leave us high and dry.

I had thought we may see further wintry showers this coming week but now it looks like a dry straight northerly for us.

yes, hope wishbone, as thicknesses don't really support low level snow this week, before it turns less cold for December

Snow has disappeared below 1000f here in North Staffordshire moorlands. Promising signs of a seeing some snow showers throughout this week after the milder blip tomorrow

Temps here of 5.7'c

Dew point 1.6'c

So not cold enough as yet, and precipitation is dying away from the north west for the time being.

Yes same here, early Saturday morning, about 7ish there was a brief shower which created a slight dusting in patches.

I was at work early that day and would have missed it no doubt if not as it soon went and there was the odd spot of rain during the day. So at least as you say whatever the weather brings now I can't say it didn't snow in Winter 2017/18 (or at least the extended Winter if you could call it that). Let's just hope that was a little teaser for the trillions upon trillions of snowflakes to come. :D

Well if it happened here, I missed it, not getting out of bed until 9. It obviously pays to be an early Bird in Winter, as it's obviously coldest then, so more chance of actually seeing snowfall. Can't wait for when it's cold enough to snow any hour of day.

Things going bananas on the MOD

Just seen forecasts of 12 inches of snow for the first trough for next week, with a polar low rapidly approaching,  from the GFS pub run.  Winds - just the 100 kper hour!

It wont happen though apparently!

Indeed.

The GFS 18z update brings a deeping area of low pressure across the UK during the middle of next week, with very cold air draw in from the north. The result is near hurricane force winds and blizzard conditions across much of England and Wales. Very large accumulations of snow across England and Wales

The sort of event that is a snow lovers dream but probably has about a 1% chance of happening.
