It seems very likely that today will be the warmest October 14th on record here ( since 1977). The previous warmest was 17.4c in 1984 and the Davis on the roof mast has already reached 18.3c.

Edit; the screen max was 18.4c so the previous record exceeded by 1.0c.

Yes, same here. Due to Saharan dust carried north by Ophelia I think.

Unreal light, bright red sun disc, don't think I 've ever seen this here during the day, sometimes hot summer evenings it happens as it sets

I didn't actually see the Sun earlier, but I did notice that the cloud seemed a very weird colour. It sort of had a slightly golden tinge to it, but it felt very dim at the same time. It was a bit surreal actually, and it can't be too often it's like that. Quite a windy day too, with a lot of leaves floating about and down.

Hateful today.

Gloomy, windless, no rain, not drizzle, not even mizzle. Just the slightest hint of moisture floating around in the air, as if the weather can't be arsed to do anything meaningful.

Jesus wept, I cut the lawn on Sunday just gone and the cuttings were bone dry in October!

Maybe, just maybe, Telford gets its first proper "stormy" autumnal weather for two years on Saturday (last year, after two weeks in Cuba where every night was never less that mid-twenties and 80% humidity, we looked forward to returning to an autumnal UK and some occasionally stormy weather, but no. Azores ridging and Scandi blocking for what seemed like five months solid put paid to that).

Yes Dancer it will feel bitter in the wind next week compared to what we have had to endure so far this Autumn.

I have been following what's happening regarding our prospects for cold, via the models of course :cold:

Quite likely they'll be plenty of frost and even fog around bonfire night....with all them bonfires on the go.... Pee soup anyone :ninja:

Temperatures dropping like the proverbial now that the sky has cleared.

I am already down to 5.4C after a max of 14C earlier on.
