Not a single day with thunder heard here this year which makes it the longest period on record ( since 1977), from the start of a year, with no thunder. The previous record was in 2007 when the first thunder of the year was on June 13th. 1980 was also notable with the first thunder heard on June 3rd.

I don't recall ever going this late in the year before hearing thunder either.  A few recent years when none has been heard in the 2nd half of the year though .....

Cheshire Gap flow here, very murky, could well be to start tomorrow as well

That burnt off before you got up today.

Yesterday and the day before turned out much sunnier than forecast afterall here.

Today is in a different league, wall to wall sun still breezy though from the west keeping it cooler at least.

Not the ideal weather for Arctic Hares today! Nevertheless, I've braved the garden and can report a maximum of 31.0 °C out there. Take off a couple of degrees for a MetO standard site, I'd guess -- so hot either way!

A 24 hr min' of 17.6c  last night was the highest on record here in June ( since 1977, and probably since before 1963). It's just about possible late June 1976 could have equalled it but I can't be certain as I was recording at different site then and although it was only a few miles away it was 130m lower down and minima were generally lower than here.

back up to 31.3'c now, should be slightly hotter than yesterday.

I work in polytunnels, so this is no fun for me, unless you think 143'f with 90% humidity is 'fun'! :D

A max' of 27.9c today made it the equal hottest June day on record ( since 1977) with the 30th in 1995 and the 19th in 2005 allowing for a 0.5c temperature differential between my current site and the former one a bit higher up the hillside.

I estimate maxima of 28.8c at my current site  on June 28th 1976 and 28.7c on the 27th and 29th of June that year so not too far off those values today.
