I posted this originally in the North West thread but as I was in the Peak District, I feel its close enough for some. This was from Sunday in some amazing conditions at Dovestones. It was a near blizzard at the top of the hills, luckily as the snow wasn't large flakes it wasn't a whiteout but the wind was pushing us and the snow stinging your face when you faced it.

Also a video here from the summit of Indians Head:

And one on the climb down:

Anyone else wanting Winter to be over now? It's been awful...3rd year without any proper lying snow. Looking forward to Spring and seeing the flowers and tree bloom back into life, and the smell of apple blossom and cut grass!

Winters changed late 90's, just been the odd good month in 18 years, I never expect anything now, looking for warmth on models, as any 'cold' setup will just be frost then rain with icy wind, 25 years ago snow

Yes, not much like Spring here either. Thick fog all day so far and the temperature has now struggled up to 6.2c.

Could be in line for strongest winds in North Midlands. I can remember 60mph storms before, but not 80mph if it comes off. Peak District will be a bleak place with potential for snow. That said I'm ready for some more interesting weather than lately.

Also possibility of some wintry showers coming down from the chesire gap after Doris tomorrow night, with -5 850s crossing the country, but before that hopefully there wont be much damage and everyone stays safe.

Where will we see the highest gust?

Very interesting day a head, we don't 70mph gusts predicted for inland areas much...:D

But take care, because we care :hi:

This the sort of weather I expect nowadays, becoming more frequent in 2000's, between Dec and Mar, mild winters I believe in

north of region looks washed out today, south of region (sigh) dry again

The wind gusts are terrifying up here on the Malvern hills. Honestly haven't heard anything this loud since the 2014 storm. Temperature an academic 8.0OC. No rain at this point, just a howling gale.

A gust this morning has torn the felt off my wood store and a tree was down on the A41.

Just as well I'm not up in North Wales today. Top 4 highest gusts are all from up there with Capel Curig at 79mph... scrub that Met Office now showing 94 mph!!

Nothing like the 90`s atlantic storm force winds far more severe and larger areas of LP.

At 350 m the mean speed here is 53 mph with a gust of 75 mph. That's over a period of 10 minutes, with a hand held anemometer, about 15 mintues ago.
